Job Purpose:

Our next Grant Writer will be responsible for preparing grant proposals to obtain financial funding for the organization and its programs. This position writes grant proposals capturing the essence of the organization’s mission and effectively communicating its programmatic needs in alignment with funder requirements. The incumbent works to ensure the overall quality, accuracy, and timeliness of Wellpoint Care Network’s RFP submissions to meet funding targets.

Duties:

  • Serves as the lead writer on Wellpoint Care Network grant proposals and applications. 
  • Researches grant opportunities offered by foundations, corporations and select government agencies in alignment with the organization’s mission and goals, grants calendar, and grant requirements. 
  • Compiles pertinent organizational information for funding projects by meeting with various leaders / programs / departments to draft comprehensive case statements, letters of intent, grant proposals and reports. 
  • Prepares compelling grant proposals and supporting documents based on the funding requirements of the organization with the goal of securing grants. 
  • Submits grant proposals to funders free of errors and with appropriate stakeholder input within established deadlines and in adherence to grant requirements. 
  • Maintains positive relationships with existing fund providers and other engaged stakeholders. 
  • Networks effectively within community and target markets to build opportunity pipelines, cultivate relationships and build brand and reputation for fundraising.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, Business, Non-Profit Management, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred. 
  • Minimum of three (3) years of grant writing experience with a provable track record in successful grant research and writing. 
  • Experience working in a non-profit or educational setting required. 
  • Experience in fund development or community engagement preferred. 
  • Project management experience is a plus. 
  • Knowledge of the history, structure, objectives, programs, and financial needs of the organization. 
  • Knowledge about how foundations, corporations, government entities and other grant issuing organizations work. 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills 
  • Demonstrates ability to work independently and effectively with staff, clients, caregivers, and purchasers. 
  • Must be honest, dependable, and able to meet deadlines; Self-motivated and able to work independently. 
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record, reliable transportation, and meet agency auto insurance requirements. 
  • Required or reliable transportation to conduct on-site learning throughout the state. 
  • Ability to demonstrate critical thinking skills, detail oriented, highly effective verbal, and written communication skills. 
  • Demonstrate an ability to effective understanding and practice of cultural humility and ability work and communicate respectfully with individuals from diverse backgrounds. 
  • Proficient in the usage of computer software; demonstrate an understanding of computer file systems and databases, e.g., Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook, Teams, ADP, etc.
