The Major Gifts Officer is responsible for securing philanthropic support from both an existing portfolio of current donors and potential supporters, as well as prospecting for new donors statewide.

The Major Gifts Officer will:

  • Manage a portfolio advancing relationships with donors and prospective supporters to meet and exceed fundraising goals. 
  • Convey the mission and vision of The Arc Minnesota in a way that empowers donors to become ambassadors for the organization. 
  • Works diplomatically with a wide variety of donors. 
  • Consistently demonstrate and model the Arc Minnesota values of: Human and Civil Rights, Self-Advocacy and Self Direction, Equity and Belonging, and Disability and Racial Justice.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Increase the annual giving of donor portfolio consistent with assigned goals. 
  • Cultivate relationships and solicit new and renewed gifts from donors capable of making annual/major/planned gifts $5,000+. 
  • Travel throughout the state to make prospect and donor exploratory, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship visits. 
  • Record all interactions with donors and prospects within the donor database. 
  • Research prospective donors and develop donor strategies to engage and acquire new donors. 
  • Move potential donors in a timely fashion towards solicitation and closure. 
  • Conduct presentations and provide organizational presence at external organizational awareness and engagement events, including The Arc Minnesota’s various fundraising events and Arc’s Value Village community events.
  • 5+ years of experience in donor relations, philanthropy and customer service required 
  • Demonstrated experience in prioritizing inclusion, equity and justice in work projects 
  • Professional manner, dependable, punctual and able to handle confidential information 
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) 
  • Must have excellent time management skills and be self-directed with the demonstrated ability to work independently 
  • Must be comfortable with a remote work environment, with a heavy amount of team work done within remote platforms 
  • Proactive and a team player 
  • Must be flexible and have the ability to handle attention to detail, and perform tasks with accuracy, efficiency and excellence.
