Dean Clinic is looking for a full-time individual to strategically plan and manage media and community relations activities in a fast-paced healthcare environment. The successful candidate will lead our clinical and provider-side media relations efforts, community event management, and provide written and other content to our external website.

Job Description

Position Summary

The Manager of Communications position is responsible for communication and promotion of Dean Health System providers, health products/services and corporate achievements to both internal and external audiences. 

Responsibilities

  • Manage media relations efforts through the development of proactive strategies for seasonal news release development and identifying appropriate spokespeople for media placement.
  • Collaborate with Director of Communications and St. Mary’s Hospital on media relations strategies.
  • Act as spokesperson when appropriate.
  • Strategize and manage community relations events and other special event planning to increase awareness of DHS services. In concert with other marketing and communication staff, determine services and providers to promote, based on organizational, individual clinic and departmental goals.
  • Manage all details, recruit and organize staff and represent DHS at events.
  • Promote positive relations with community chambers of commerce, schools, media and other community groups.
  • Serve as Dean Health System’s public representative for community relations projects and events.
  • Provide leadership in organizing individual clinic staffs in relation to local community events, as well as overall public relations efforts and goals for Dean Health System.
  • Develop, format and manage the content of the monthly “Let’s Talk Health” educational series in Dane and Rock counties.
  • Develop timely topics based on corporate goals designed to showcase Dean physicians and services, recruit speakers, support, promote and evaluate success of event.
  • Collaborate with St. Mary’s Hospital on Madison and Janesville “What’s New” programs (6 programs per year).
  • Develop timely topics, recruit speakers and support, promote and evaluate the success of the event.
  • Provide writing support for internal and external communication to develop letters, news releases, etc.
  • Lead collaborative event planning efforts with Dean Health Plan and St. Mary’s Hospital to promote services as a system while maintaining integrity of individual corporate image standards.
  • Assist in promotion of safety programs (Crash Helmet, Buckle Bear and Car Seat Safety programs).
  • Develop and implement plans to increase awareness of services and utilizing community relations opportunities.
  • Interface all media community and public relations activities with Web team to enhance the digital experience. Complete other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

Required

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field with 5 years of relevant experience. Excellent organizational, communication and project management skills. Ability to work with a variety of communication vehicles to present information in a variety of venues Excellent writing skills Ability to function in a fast paced dynamic environment. 

Preferred

Health care experience. Media experience Management experience or experience in a leadership role.

Compensation & Benefits

Starting range $54,000 to $65,000 dependent on experience. Competitive benefits package.
