| Organization Profile | On Broadway, Inc. (OBI)is a non-profit organization formed in 1995 through a grassroots effort to improve the declining Broadway District and create a vibrant downtown community. The Broadway District is boarded by Mather St. on the North, Mason Street on the South, Ashland Avenue on the West and the Fox River on the East.
On Broadway, Inc. is a Main Street Programthat follows the five-point approach to revitalization that includes Design, Economic Restructuring, Marketing, Organization and Promotional Events. Each of these areas is overseen by a committee made up of volunteers from the community who meet once a month and work with staff, district businesses, and other volunteers to accomplish projects. |
| Job Overview | This role is one that bridges three areas of focus for the Organization: 1) Coordinate marketing projects for both On Broadway, Inc. (OBI) as an organization, and the Broadway District as a whole; 2) Coordinate and manage communications of OBI; and 3) Provide outreach and coordination to the Broadway business community. |
| Job Description | The breakdown and components of these roles includes, but are not limited to.
1 - Coordination of marketing projects (40%) This component is responsible developing, maintaining, and executing a strategy of marketing for the On Broadway, Inc. Marketing Committee. The Marketing coordinator will also be asked to contribute to larger planning and execution of events in partnership with other OBI teammates and leadership circles. This role includes both marketing projects for OBI as an organization and includes projects in the broader district in service of the Broadway Business Improvement District. This includes projects such as: 4th Quarter Marketing Strategies, and assistance with marketing large events such as the Farmers’ Market on Broadway, etc.
2 - Coordination of Organizational Communications (30%) This component is responsible for managing and coordinating messaging, social media, press-releases, brand enforcement, and media relationships for On Broadway, Inc. This role will also include assisting with grant writing, fundraising, or any publishing efforts of On Broadway, Inc. This role will also include professional networking with OBI partners and representing the organization at various events. This role includes projects such as; producing the Broadway Beat bi-weekly newsletter, authoring press releases, submitting awards, etc.
3 - Business Outreach (30%) This component is responsible for assisting with business outreach for On Broadway, Inc. Specifically, this role will include weekly face-to-face contact with District Businesses, and help coordinate various marketing , communications, and networking efforts. This role also involved direct interaction with the Broadway Business Owners group (BBO). Projects associated with this role is coordinating small promotions like sidewalk sales, group media buys, special promotions, etc. |
| Job Qualifications | General Requirements:
- marketing or communications background; degree or equivalent experience preferred
- previous experience in non-profit or economic development a plus
- strong verbal and written communication skills
- technical writing skills
- strong customer service skills and sales experience
- strong project management skills desired
- ability to work and direct volunteers, guide leadership committees, and mentor interns
- strong time management skills
- strong team skills
- ability to handle physical components (lifting, etc)
- multi-task in a high pressure dynamic environment
- previous experience or knowledge in Main Street programs is helpful
Required Computer Skills:
- Windows XP and 7 proficiency
- Microsoft Office proficiency
- Adobe CS knowledge
- Social Media proficiency (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter)
- OBI Website Development/Management)
Hours will fluctuate. Likely average over 45 hours per week, core hours 9am-5pm, flex time available per supervisory approvals. |
| Compensation & Benefits | Pay $28,000-30,000 annually (Full time) based on experience. This is a salaried position “exempt” with no overtime available.
Benefits: Performance based annual bonus available, Health Insurance after 90 days; Flex-time available through supervisory approval, 2 Weeks of Vacation (pro-rated at time of hire), accrual PTO system to begin 2012. This position will report to the Executive Director. |
