As the business unit communications assistant, you will provide support to project teams, project managers, and other senior leaders to support both internal and external project efforts. Work assignments may include developing visual presentations; editing, proofreading, or technical editing of reports and emails; and developing and sharing compelling stories in a range of media, including videos, presentations, graphics, and intranet pages. You’ll create communications about client projects, business unit updates, initiatives, priorities, and more.

The successful candidate for this position will demonstrate outstanding writing and editing skills, experience in graphic design and multimedia content development, as well as strong organization and client-service skills.

In this role, you’ll work closely with engineers, scientists, and business unit leaders across offices and geographies.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Three or more years of experience in a comparable position 
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat 
  • Proficient writing and editing skills 
  • Working knowledge of graphic design and document design principles 
  • Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced environment, where multiple people will provide work direction 
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks 
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including above-average grammar 
  • Strong listening skills 
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and task follow-through 
  • Strong client-service mentality and an attitude and desire to help project teams be successful 
  • Self-initiative and motivation with an emphasis on client service 
  • Ability to work effectively with a variety of personalities and build working relationships 
  • Ability to work with partial information, identify further data necessary to effectively complete tasks, and either prepare preliminary but incomplete work products or work with individuals to collect necessary data for the preparation of complete work products 
  • Flexible working style and willingness to occasionally modify personal schedules to help meet project deadlines 
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship from Barr, now or in the future 
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Five or more years of experience in a comparable position 
  • Bachelor's degree in English, communications, marketing, or related field 
  • Experience providing proofreading of technical reports 
  • Internal communications experience 
  • Experience managing an intranet, intranet pages, and/or intranet content 
  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365 platforms including SharePoint Online and MS Teams 
  • Knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and/or Acrobat software 
  • Document design and graphic design skills 
  • Experience preparing visual presentation materials 
  • Photography experience
