Under the direction of the Vice President for Advancement, the Director of Communications will lead a team responsible for creating and executing a brand marketing strategy that increases recognition, enrollment, revenue, and loyalty. As well as leading the team, there will be hands-on production requirements to insure timely completion of tasks. This strategy will cover channels including online and offline marketing, social media, traditional PR campaigns, and advertising. The Director is a member of the Leadership Council.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with VP for Advancement to develop & implement a comprehensive marketing strategy
  • Build the prospect pool from the web and digital platforms 
  • Maintain the Communications Task List 
  • Manage the Communications Office staff 
  • Coordinate with Fierce and Social Compass on production and planning 
  • Oversee the production of video, photography, and graphic design for all enrollment divisions 
  • Oversee the website and evaluate its effectiveness 
  • Enforce the Brand Style Guide 
  • Chair the Social Media Committee 
  • Coordinate the Content Marketing Team writing for blogs and web 
  • Coordinate the advertising strategy 
  • Coordinate the email calendar 
  • Confer with administrative and department heads to formulate policy, coordinate activities, establish production schedules, and solve communication problems 
  • Work with the Executive Office to produce the Podcast, “On Mission” 
  • Maintains computer equipment and purchases software and hardware for the Communications Office 
  • Participate in the Operational Department Review process on a fixed cycle of review. 
  • As an employee of Maranatha, you are expected to help accomplish the mission in ways that include, but are not limited to: leading students in prayer, giving biblical advice, mentoring in spiritual matters, helping students develop Christian maturity, and teaching the Word of God. This leadership of students should be accomplished through direct communication with the students, and it must also be accomplished by the example you set in your personal life both at and away from the ministry.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Communication Office personnel – assistant director, graphic designer, videographer, photographers, writers, student workers

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Clear testimony of personal salvation in Jesus Christ. 
  • Lifestyle consistent with the ethos of Maranatha. 
  • An understanding of graphic design, printing process, and electronic communications 
  • Demonstrated competence for administrative detail with the ability to handle multiple tasks 
  • A working knowledge of Microsoft Office (a working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite is helpful but not necessary) 
  • Knowledge of standards and procedures for executing large mailings 
  • An understanding of the philosophy and mission of Maranatha 
  • Be cheerful and flexible, possessing people skills 
  • Neat in appearance
