Position Details:

Leads design for a variety of multi-channel integrated campaigns and marketing tactics while concepting and designing the look and feel and sensibility for the brand. This position is strategic, operationally focused and works closely with our Sr. Manager of Creative, and Director of Brand & Creative to help set direction and execute fast-paced design and content development. Hands-on manager to lead the team of designers on day-to-day and long-term projects while also developing the team’s professional skills, digital skills and understanding the impact on the evolving technology in this space.

You will report to the Director of Marketing.

You Will:

  • Provide leadership around design elements on all creative projects. 
  • Responsible for concepting through execution supporting all Grainger customer objectives regardless of channel and creative format. 
  • Accountable for overall quality of creative design output and the look and feel for marketing, and the brand including supporting a multitude of digital/offline channels around a variety of customer objectives 
  • Resources and prioritizes andmanages work assignments and the execution of projects 
  • Create processes and procedures necessary to ensure the best possible creative outcomes keeping best in class marketing efforts in mind
  • Ability to harness, understand, and utilize new technologies (Gen AI, etc) to unlock creative efficiencies 
  • Help craft and evolve the corporate visual style, voice and standards 
  • Mentor and develop best-in-class design staff by up-skilling, providing inspiration, motivation and new learning and design stretch opportunities
  • Ensure standards are met from initial concepts through completed project

You Have:

  • 7-10 years professional experience with 3-5 years managerial experience leading a team of graphic design, copy, web design, photography, images and videography. 
  • BA/BS/BFA required (MA a plus) in advertising, marketing, communications, or design-related field 
  • Thorough knowledge of the latest Adobe Creative Suite–(Adobe Express, Premiere Pro, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, etc.) 
  • Strong knowledge and working experience with motion graphics and animation 
  • Working knowledge of CMS, email development, HTML and CSS 
  • Understanding of business-to-business marketing methods 
  • Demonstrated success in a large multi-channel organization and/or agency 
  • Ability to translate business and customer objectives into creative strategy 
  • Broad creative expertise, strong in graphic design – with exceptional creative leadership and a track record of innovation 
  • Outstanding people skills with a focus on developing and upskilling individuals and talent
