A Typical Day in the Life…

A typical day as Hallie Q. Brown’s Marketing and Events Coordinator provides an opportunity to utilize social media to leverage the mission of the agency by creating material that is consistent with the brand and values of Hallie Q. Brown Community Center. This position will work in tandem with the Marketing and Events Manager to develop and maintain a marketing strategy, as well as execute successful agency events.

Other responsibilities will include the following:

  • Using social media marketing tools to create copy and content while maintaining the organization’s brand. 
  • Interacting with community members and other stakeholders via the organization’s social media accounts. 
  • Assisting in analyzing the company’s digital marketing plan and social media strategy and helping determine solutions when strategic weaknesses are identified. 
  • Researching social media trends that are relevant to the organization’s marketing activities. 
  • Designing and updating marketing collateral to be brand cohesive. 
  • Creating collateral for significant drives and events throughout the year. 
  • Updating tracking systems for marketing materials. 
  • Managing internal and external events during work hours and outside of work hours. 
  • Assisting the Marketing and Events Manager in the design and overall execution of events including reaching out to vendors, sourcing information, picking up materials or rentals, etc. 
  • Assisting with the setup of event spaces according to the specifications of the reserving party including tables, chairs, and other necessary equipment. 
  • Assisting with the breaking down of events with care and efficiency, ensuring all property and equipment is protected from damage.

Who You Are:

  • You hold a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, or you have demonstrably equivalent knowledge gained through alternative courses of study and life experience. 
  • You have a minimum of one year of work experience in social media or marketing, the networks and landscapes, technology of this field as well. 
  • You have a demonstrated interest in the human services nonprofit sector; experience working in a nonprofit setting is preferred. Previous knowledge of the Rondo area is desired. 
  • You demonstrate a willingness to learn a variety of tasks. 
  • You possess excellent communication skills, a serious work ethic, and a desire to work in a team-orientated environment. 
  • You have the ability to work independently, establish priorities, and meet deadlines. 
  • You have previous experience working with diverse groups of people of all socioeconomic conditions or demonstrate knowledge and understanding of how to do so. 
  • You are competent in MS Office: Word, Access, Publisher, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint. 
  • You have a valid driver’s license, access to reliable transportation, and the ability to meet Hallie Q. Brown’s driving record requirements. Please note that if the license wasnotissued in the state of Minnesota, you have 60 days after becoming a Minnesota resident in which to apply for your Minnesota driver's license or permit (not applicable for new hires living out of state).

Wages & Benefits:

$­­­­21.63 - $24.05; 11 Paid Holidays plus accrued paid time off; company-paid medical, dental, vision, life insurance, AD&D, and short-term and long-term disability; company-sponsored retirement plan with automatic enrollment, a 10% employer contribution after 1 year of service, immediate vesting, and 100% employer matching on the first 5% of employee contributions and paid parental leave for eligible employees.

Schedule:

This position is conducted fully in-person. It requires occasional travel and working some nights and weekends as needed, bending, lifting and movement are also essential.
