Medtronic is looking for a dynamic Senior Communications Generalist to join the Corporate Communications team. In this role, you will support global communications for our HR programs and projects. As a key team member, you will be responsible for the development and creative execution of communications strategies that reach 95,000+ employees worldwide, as well as managing key communications vehicles, calendars, and analytics.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Corporate Communications (HR Communications), this role requires a high level of organizational skills, a creative approach, and the ability to assess communications opportunities, understand different audiences, and engage stakeholders.

This is a hybrid role based in Minneapolis with key stakeholders at the same location. We will prioritize talent over location. Qualified remote candidates are encouraged to apply.

A Day in the Life

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Develops and executes communications strategies supporting our key human resources programs with both internal and external audiences 
  • Supports communications to the HR function, including messages from the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) 
  • Helps build Medtronic’s brand and reputation internally and externally as a talent destination, including leveraging internal and external social channels 
  • Manages key communications vehicles, calendars, and analytics for the HR Communications team 
  • Handles the creation and implementation of multiple forms of internal strategic communication activities, programs and content guided by the Medtronic Mission and overall business strategy 
  • Leads strategies, produces content, and organizes events to help align the organization's goals in support of greater employee engagement and business impact 
  • Responsible for planning, storytelling, writing and editing to persuade, educate and inspire internal audiences to change behavior or understand the work environment 
  • Supports senior leadership in communicating key change initiatives, policy changes and other company information to employees

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree required 
  • Minimum of 4 years of progressive communications experience in an corporate or agency setting, or advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant communications experience

  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills essential
  • Robust storytelling capabilities
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communications counseling skills
  • Solid project and time management skills; must be able to manage multiple assignments simultaneously and shift focus adeptly
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with colleagues at all levels of the organization
  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Communications, Public Relations, or other associated field of study
  • Ability to work with confidential and sensitive information
  • Ability to engage, brief, and manage third-party vendors
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, experience with Salesforce.com, Eloqua or other eMarketing platforms a plus
