Job Purpose/Role:

The Allianz Creative Department is about creating brilliant ideas, and bringing them to life in differentiating, motivating, and effective ways - in the service of selling our products, engaging producers, communicating with our community, and promoting our brand. The Level I Art Director role is to apply their own design talents to create those ideas.

Allianz Level I Art Director will succeed in this by being unabashedly unsatisfied. They will not design “boilerplate”. They will push beyond what’s been done and what’s expected. Inspiration will come from exploring a wide range of sources – within and outside the realm of design, advertising, and marketing. They will understand that their job is to marshal all the hardwired tools of their trade in order to communicate, educate, and persuade through art and design - from digital to print to video.

In order to accomplish this, the Level I AD must also be able to grasp the essence of a strategy, even question it if necessary, in order to translate it into a brilliant idea, masterfully executed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ideate and develop conceptual thoughts, and turn them into successful internal, producer, and consumer engagement pieces and campaigns. 
  • Develop design approaches resulting in strong aesthetic appeal within the brand guidelines, pushing those parameters when possible. 
  • Specific creative detail including layout, typography, photography and/or functionality for print and digital execution. 
  • Exhibit critical thinking and active problem solving. 
  • Develop quick-turn solutions when necessary. 
  • Seek and use resources within or outside the company for continuing development. 
  • Understand and embrace the people and process by which work is evaluated and approved. 
  • Assist in creating compelling presentations and presentation materials. 
  • Link micro findings to a larger idea, finding fresh, new perspectives. 
  • Offer multiple quality solutions to any given problem/assignment.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent experience 
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in creative or inhouse agency as an art director/designer 
  • Proficient with Mac computer programs: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Adobe suite 
  • Emerging presentation skills 
  • Creating designs/campaigns for digital execution 
  • Solid interpersonal and listening skills 
  • Solid written and oral communication skills 
  • Collaboration skills 
  • Ability to learn about the annuity/insurance business 
  • Ability to develop every aspect of a campaign based on the marketing plan 
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects with ease

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Quick learner; able to understand new processes, industries, complex products 
  • Experience in insurance/financial services 
  • Experience with B2B marketing 
  • Experience in creating videos & content using graphics and dynamic type
