Communication Strategist (Remote)

The Donovan Group is seeking a communication strategist, with a focus on writing and editing, to help our school district clients tell their stories and communicate more effectively. This individual should be a strong writer/editor, with the ability to create quality graphics in Canva a plus. This full-time position would allow you to work 100% remotely.

Core Responsibilities:

• Writing and editing news releases, email messages, letters to parents/staff, articles, website content, social media content, brochure copy, and other types of written content for schools and districts nationwide. 
• Developing key messages and talking points for a variety of communication and marketing campaigns, including those focused on referendum efforts, enrollment, and hiring/recruitment. 
• Editing and proofing content written by clients and Donovan Group staff, with a focus on editing for messaging and flow in addition to grammar, punctuation, and proper word use. 
• Writing and preparing content for client newsletters, using Smore and similar platforms. 
• Assisting with the creation of handbooks, course guides, reports, and other documents for our clients. 
• Using Canva to create social media and other graphics. 
• Using an established project management system and processes to communicate with fellow Donovan Group staff on a daily basis. 
• Assisting with the marketing and advertising efforts of the firm.

Key Attributes:

• Excellent writer and editor with an eye for detail 
• Extremely well organized and able to manage multiple projects at a time 
• Ability to remain on task and complete assignments and projects in a timely manner while working remotely 
• Basic skills related to using Canva to create social media graphics 
• Existing knowledge or willingness to learn best practices in school communication 
• Entrepreneurial spirit, intensity, and a deep desire to work hard to accomplish goals 
• Interest in education communications, education policy, and helping school districts tell their stories and engage their stakeholders

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited postsecondary institution 
• Professional writing and/or editing experience 
• Basic knowledge of the Canva graphic design platform 
• Submission of at least two writing samples 
• Submission of a resume

Salary Range: $56,000 to $62,000 per year
