The Communications Associate is responsible for maintaining and executing communications plans and programs in support of RSM’s strategy. The position is responsible for supporting the communications team across various initiatives and projects; building strong relationships with stakeholders; and assisting in developing multi-channel, compelling strategies, tactics and deliverables to inform, engage and align stakeholders to firm strategies and business objectives.

Essential Duties:

  • Responsible for the publication and distribution of communications, as needed 
  • Word processing and formatting articles in accordance with internal brand compliance 
  • Creating internal templates per new RSM branding guidelines 
  • Proofreading and editing of documents 
  • Composing communications for internal and external distribution

Managing distribution, to include:

  • Preparing internal and external communications and managing distribution lists using the firm’s tools 
  • Posting content to intranet site and external internet site and RSM Power platform 
  • Compiling and evaluating reports on content performance 
  • Develop internal communications strategies, tactics and deliverables to engage, motivate and align employees with various projects and programs. May support one or more internal groups or leaders with internal communications on a regular basis 
  • Collaborate with counterparts on the public relations team and in other functional areas (marketing, human resources, finance, etc.) to ensure that communications are planned, sequenced and integrated across the enterprise. 
  • Coordinate the logistics of internal communications campaigns to ensure that all communications and materials are delivered on time and through the proper channels. 
  • Post and deliver content through the firm’s internal communications platforms, such as SharePoint, RSM Power, and Yammer 
  • Assist in managing the content on various internal and/or external web sites 
  • Working with various stakeholders, developers and reviewers in the publishing process; helping to build and update various components while maintaining compliance with firm governance and branding

Tasks include:

  • Reformatting and proof reading content; uploading new documents; updating content and hyperlinks and updating various properties to reflect status or categorization/meta tagging 
  • Sun-setting and archiving of content 
  • Monitoring and measuring to determine effectiveness 
  • Developing and maintaining the ongoing documentation of metrics 
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to effectively communicate announcements to the firm’s client servers 
  • Play a key support role in the development and implementation of marketing campaigns/events 
  • Assist internal stakeholders with the coordination of special presentations and projects, such as: PowerPoint or other materials; create talking points, Q&A; announcements; and recording scripts podcasts or internal video. 
  • Provide assistance to other ad hoc projects

Examples include:

  • Assist in content migration and maintenance in SharePoint as needed 
  • Create documents and templates for other groups / projects 
  • Communications project assistance, may include interviewing, drafting, editing and publishing 
  • Actively participate in communication team meetings to share ideas and insights to continually improve communication processes, tools and results 
  • Actively build relationships with team members and key stakeholders
