Job Summary:

The person hired for the position of Communications Coordinator, will be responsible for supporting 3M’s internal communication efforts throughout the globe. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative team player, a stronger writer, and an innovative thinker who contributes their perspective in a collaborative way.

This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military environments to a 3M career.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Develop and execute 3M’s internal communications strategy. Develops communications materials for 3M global corporate and targeted audience segments, including: all levels of 3M leaders and employees, non-3M workers, customers, vendors and external audiences. 
  • Organizes and conducts communication activities including: target audience research, designing/executing creative cross-media tactics (e.g.: web, video, blogs, virtual events, events/campaigns), and managing the program brand. 
  • Builds communication plans including goals, stakeholder analysis, target audience segmentation, program branding, and communication tactics. 
  • Implements communication plans that support achievement of 3M goals and strategic direction. This includes development of messaging, presentations, and broad 3M employee and program communications that concisely and compellingly address business and organizational needs. 
  • Partners cross-functionally with colleagues to ensure alignment of program communication execution.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution 
  • Minimum of three (3) combined years of experience in internal communications, marketing, Public Relations (PR), and/or social media in aprivate, public, government or military environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred in Business Administration, Marketing, Journalism, Advertising, Public Relations, or Mass Communication from an accredited university 
  • Ability to translate strategic plan into execution of detailed tactical Communication Plan 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to persuade others in matrix environment 
  • Customer/client-centric mindset combined with contagious enthusiasm and passion 
  • Strategic thinking and ability to develop creative solutions 
  • Ability to translate complex material into engaging communications 
  • Excellent collaboration skills and ability to develop solid working relationships with partners and vendors 
  • Excellent editorial skills including: grammar, spelling, punctuation and working knowledge of AP style and very strong verbal communication skills
