Position Summary:

The Communications Manager is responsible for developing and implementing communications strategy. Working with the VP of Corporate Communications, this position will lead the development, coordination, and implementation of comprehensive external and internal verbal, visual and written communication practices. The Communications Manager is responsible for supporting the communication needs of the business and its leaders, by driving and executing various communication initiatives and programs. The role will manage the day-to-day execution of employee communication. This is a fast-paced role involving project management, creative writing, editing, design and content development.

Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:

  • Managing the external and internal communication processes for the business and being the thought leader on communications, including best practices, new methods, channels, etc. 
  • Overseeing and managing company intranet, including reviewing, editing and publishing company news, announcements and ongoing content generation. 
  • Partnering with stakeholders on change management initiatives and providing support from a communications perspective. 
  • Coordinating, drafting, editing, and publishing communications through newsletters, email, intranet, video and other media as appropriate. 
  • Supporting organizational initiatives by creating communications and other promotional tactics to distribute information to employees and stakeholders. 
  • Attending meetings and events, gathering data, and creating communications to disseminate information to employees and stakeholders, as appropriate. 
  • Providing guidance to all departments in order to identify internal messages, content opportunities, and to keep employees informed of our corporate and local initiatives. 
  • Partnering with Human Capital and other corporate departments to coordinate and create branding campaigns such as Corporate Social Responsibility, Employment Branding, Company Culture, and other values-driven initiatives. 
  • Ensuring consistent corporate image /company brand is communicated and maintained across all internal and external outlets. 
  • Managing annual communications editorial calendar. 
  • Managing / supporting the external communications resources together with the Director of Communications (video, creative, and print) to support all corporate initiatives. 
  • Any other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications or related field and 5+ years of communications or related experience, or High School Diploma and 8+ years of communications or related experience. 
  • Excellent writing, spelling, and grammar skills. 
  • Strong organizational skills, must be able to handle multiple tasks/projects at one time and be able to effectively handle changing conditions. 
  • Experience with electronic communications (intranet, video, social media). 
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment within a matrixed organization. 
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; ability to communicate effectively with different levels within an organization and lead change initiatives; ability to negotiate with and persuade others, and ability to facilitate team meetings. 
  • Good listening skills; ability to understand issues and design appropriate, audience-specific solutions. 
  • Independent and results oriented, with a strong work ethic, tenacity and a persistent approach. 
  • Strategic and innovative thinking skills. 
  • Effective stakeholder engagement; ensures communication strategies meet the needs of the varied internal stakeholder groups. 
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite including Word, Excel and PowerPoint 
  • Up to 25% travel. 
  • This position must pass a post-offer background and drug test.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Supervisory experience. 
  • Strong knowledge of food and beverage distribution industry and trends. 
  • Experience with SharePoint. 
  • Experience with content design.
