The UnitedHealthcare Community & State national communications team is seeking a Communications Specialist to coordinate influencer and external communications and resources. We need attention to every detail with an eye for the points no one has considered. This role will also be integral to managing conference and speaking opportunities supporting business goals.

This role will support UnitedHealthcare Community & State (C&S) communications objectives; supporting UHC and business-segment value stories and building relationships with key national and local stakeholders; and helping to implement C&S communications initiatives and programs. We’re looking for a smart, enthusiastic and creative team member, driven by a common company goal: to help people live healthier lives and to help make the health system work better for everyone.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Providing on-site (when applicable) conference, speaker, and media relations support.
  • Supporting business leaders to identify and recommend event participation, assisting national external team to build brand and reputation. 
  • Supporting content creation. 
  • Lead reporting to demonstrate return on objectives for businesses and brand. 
  • Managing project workflows and deliverables from creative and communications teams.
  • Owning the distribution process to ensure appropriate approvals are managed and deadlines met. 
  • Overseeing production lifecycle of materials from creation to final distribution. 
  • Implementing policies and procedures on development, approval and distribution of materials. 
  • Serving as resource to internal stakeholders and project coordinators. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Job Qualifications:

  • Project management skills 
  • Bachelor Degree or 4 years relevant equivalent experience in public relations or communications 
  • 4 years of experience using written and verbal communication skills 
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite (The ability to create documents in MS Word, create spreadsheets in MS Excel, created presentations in MS PowerPoint, send documents and emails in MS Outlook)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Cross-functional team experience working in a complex, matrix organization, preferably in a healthcare environment or with a creative agency 
  • Healthcare industry experience a plus

Soft Skills:

  • Good attention to detail 
  • Strong personal integrity and the ability to form effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders 
  • Accomplished writer 
  • Strong organizational and proofreading skills
