OVERVIEW:

As a Consumer and Market Intelligence Manager working in Foresight, you will be guiding General Mills’ capability in the Strategic Foresight practice and rolling out application across the organization. Strategic Foresight will be a critical capability in helping the organization identify areas to accelerate growth and your role will be leading both capability building as well as practical application.

On the capabilities side you will be leveraging your experiences as a foresight practitioner, building and facilitating the process. On the application side, you will be working with key cross functional business representatives to understand business problems and translate foresight-driven solutions to address those problems.

Key partners throughout the process will be fellow Foresight team members, data scientists, other Consumer & Market Intelligence colleagues and cross functional partners engaged in foresight thinking across the organization.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Strengthen and refine GMI’s approach to foresight:

  • Identifying weak signals, emerging trends and early patterns of change 
  • Creating future scenarios 
  • Partnering with business leadership teams to create future-inspired strategies and action plans 
  • Monitoring progress against scenarios

Facilitate foresight projects and work sessions with senior leaders

Translate foresight implications to business opportunities

Develop a communication plan, rolling out both foresight findings as well as foresight education across the organization

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Strategic Foresight, Marketing, Market Research, Statistics, Economics, Anthropology, Sociology, Psychology, or other related field 
  • Brings a minimum of 5-7 years experience combining work directly in the field of strategic foresight and applying strategic insights within organizations 
  • Ability to distill complicated concepts to simple to follow stories with clear business implications 
  • Delivering results and facilitating conversations and work sessions with senior leaders 
  • External and future oriented

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MBA or Masters degree in related field 
  • Experience building a foresight culture within an organization, including selling in new ways of looking at old problems, socializing the approach, consensus building throughout the process, and creating proven actionability as a result 
  • Experience in strategic and systems thinking: solving problems and solutions with a mindset of interconnectedness, connecting the dots to produce larger and more impactful patterns, and breaking down how things influence each other in a system 
  • Using a consultative approach within an organization or asking questions to better understand the problem and tailoring the solution to best solve that problem 
  • Creating actionable and proven business implications
