POSITION PURPOSE:

This person will work in a collaborative, team environment with communications, marketing and graphic design. This position plays an integral role in the university's communications department, as a part of the overall advancement team. This person will play a lead role in telling the Lakeland story and forwarding the Lakeland brand through the creation and strategic dissemination of digital content.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Serve as Lakeland's primary story teller through digital content that spotlights our successes and is shared across a variety of platforms to help define and forward the Lakeland brand. 
  • Serve as institutional videographer. 
  • Assist in creating and be primary manager of implementation of the university's social media strategy. 
  • Edit materials submitted by others into a consistent tone and style based on the LU brand guidelines. 
  • Prioritize coverage of all Lakeland sponsored and student-led events, utilizing content to support external relations efforts and repurposing as much content as possible. 
  • Create and maintain a video archive. 
  • Supervise/mentor student workers.

SPECIALIZED KNOW-HOW AND SKILLS:

  • One-three years of experience in video production and social media content development and strategy. 
  • Bachelor's degree in English, communication, journalism or advertising/marketing preferred. 
  • Experience working collaboratively with marketing, communications and graphic design. 
  • Strong organizational, time management and communication skills. 
  • Keen attention to detail. 
  • Proficient computer skills. 
  • Excellent knowledge of the English language. 
  • Knowledge of AP style preferred.
