The Director of Communications and Marketing is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Minnesota Masonic Charities' (MMC) communications and marketing activities and projects. The Director of Communications and Marketing will lead, coordinate, create and communicate publications and media materials that relate to MMC's philanthropic activities governance and image along with other public relations duties. The Director will take a leading role in implementing strategies designed to promote and broadcast MMC's comprehensive charitable programs and services.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Creates internal and external communication materials and media as it relates to MMC's philanthropic activities, functions, governance and image. 
  • Develops and implements communication strategies that shape public opinion and support and publicize our advocacy and charitable programs. 
  • Builds collaborative relationships with the Board of Trustees, the Grand Lodge of Minnesota and constituents to enhance and extend MMC's impact. 
  • Oversees multiple publications including responsibilities for project development, content and in collaboration with media consultants. 
  • Works in conjunction with public relations professionals on standards and strategies for corporate communications (including crisis communications), such as branding, brochures and marketing materials. 
  • Coordinates communications with Masonic Lodges and Order of the Eastern Star Chapters regarding MMC's activities and initiatives. 
  • Promotes special events and celebrations sponsored by MMC. 
  • Manages MMC websites, provides content updates on a consistent and frequent timeline and institutes quality improvements to the sites as necessary, by providing direction to external technical consultants. 
  • Manages and enhances the quality, effectiveness, and outreach capacity of the organizational websites and develops and seeks to build an expanding e-communications program. Oversees continued improvement of the MMC websites and efforts to market and promote the organization to the visitors of the site. 
  • Provides direction, content and oversight to the MMC e-newsletter, coordinating distribution with external design consultants. Seeks to expand existing data base of readers.
  • Responsible for supervision, direction and content for organizational social media.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Marketing or other related degree preferred. 
  • A minimum of 5 years previous experience in the communications, public relations and/or marketing field. 
  • Strong print and digital projects experience and skills a must 
  • Budgetary, planning and administrative experience required. 
  • Proven experience coordinating and executing communications campaigns. 
  • Superior organizational skills, creative and presentation abilities, and the capacity to work independently or in teams. 
  • Must have good interpersonal skills and the ability to work cooperatively with staff, governing boards, and the community. 
  • Limited evening and weekend availability to attend MMC events.
