Job Description Summary:

As an integral part of the Corporate Communications team, the External Corporate Communications Manager is responsible for delivering a variety of strategic public relations, executive, and crisis/issues management communications and programs designed to help achieve Uponor North America’s aspirations, strategic priorities and business goals.

This individual supports a range of external communications activities that purposefully integrate the company’s voice, brand standards and industry leadership position to drive knowledge, connection and behavior that builds business and Uponor’s customer-centric, values-based culture.

Specific work includes supporting the development of enterprise messaging, managing relationships and workload of agency partners, fostering relationships with key members of the local and trade media, serving as a communications partner in enterprise-level projects, and developing communication materials for media relations, external executive speaking engagements, and in support of crisis/issues management initiatives.

The External Corporate Communications Manager often works cross-functionally, but on a daily basis with Internal Communications, Brand/CSR, Integrated Marketing Communications and segment Marketing teams.

Job Description:

  • Planning and implementing media relations strategies and campaigns; developing and producing high-quality, informative, and interesting news releases, media kits, and other communications materials 
  • Responding to media requests for interviews and information 
  • Managing PR agency partners, project calendars and budgets 
  • Managing media trackers, analyzing media coverage, and developing monthly reports for senior leaders 
  • Developing relationships with industry leaders or influencers 
  • Helping develop external executive communications/presentations and crisis/issues management communications, as requested 
  • Collaborating with other members of the Engagement Marketing team, as well as cross-functionally, to help achieve corporate aspirations, strategic priorities and growth goals


  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Business, Marketing or equivalent 
  • 6+ years of Public Relations and Corporate Communications experience 
  • Experience working independently, on a team and with members of executive leadership 
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; strong copywriting and content creation skills 
  • Ability to multitask and monitor several projects simultaneously 
  • Motivated self-starter with demonstrated success achieving results/aggressive objectives 
  • Proven success working cross-functionally to drive and achieve shared aspirations and goals 
  • Excellent computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and PowerPoint 
  • Confident presentation skills and attention to detail
