Medica is a non-profit health insurance company headquartered in Minnetonka with offices in Madison, Duluth, St. Cloud, Fargo, and Omaha. The company is active across the heart of America and provider healthcare coverage in multiple markets. Medica is engaged in our communities through the charitable grant-making work of the Medica Foundation and active employee giving and volunteer programs.

Medica will host a hybrid, 12-week, paid Internship Program. Interns will have the opportunity to network within Medica and with other Interns through weekly Lunch-and-Learns and opportunities to hear from Executives. We strive to offer a well-rounded education of the inner workings of a health plan. Department Introduction:

Medica is currently seeking a Graphic Design Intern to assist our Experience Design team, who will support a variety of marketing, communication, and production projects. This position will offer unique exposure to the healthcare industry, insight into the corporate design workflow as well as opportunities to engage with leadership. The Graphic Design Intern will assist with a variety of projects including, but not limited to applications, product brochures, buck slips, postcards, PowerPoint presentations and forms. Your creativity will be leveraged as well as your attention to detail and ability to learn quick. The intern will work with all of Medica and will report to the Creative Director.

Gained Experience:

The Graphic Design Intern will assist with these projects during their tenure with the team:

  • Assist the Experience Design team on creative design work 
  • Update maps, forms, fliers, etc., with annual product information 
  • Creating PowerPoint presentations and Word templates 
  • Maintain visual aesthetic and follow brand identity 
  • Promote design consistency in look, tone and feel for assigned projects 
  • Archive elements used in projects, including icons and photos

Qualifications:

  • Junior/Senior working towards a degree in graphic design or closely related field

Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (CC+) in the Mac OSX+ platform 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office 
  • Eager to learn and be a part of a team 
  • Attention to detail, visual excellence and consistency 
  • Quick learner and ability to take direction and work one-on-one with teammates 
  • Knowledge of print process and terminology

This position is a Hub role, which requires an employee to occasionally come onsite to the Minnetonka office for applicable heads-up work. Frequency is determined by business need as decided by leadership.
