A. O. Smith is looking for an Internal Communications Manager who will lead the internal communications function for the organization. This individual will develop and drive the company’s internal communications strategy and manageday-to-day communications to internal audiences around the globe.

Scope of Responsibility:

  • Create strategic communications plans.
  • Under the lead of the director of corporate communications, work to ensure goals of internal communications are aligned with A. O. Smith’s key business objectives.
  • Create content based on the needs of the business.  Determine and utilize best communications channels for deployment.
  • Work with cross-functional teams, such as human resources and operations, to best support the needs and future growth of the business.
  • Develop internal communications programs that engage, align and inspire employees worldwide.
  • Manage budgets related to internal communications programs and initiatives.
  • Drive editorial strategy and create content for the company’s internet site.

Responsibilities:

1. Corporate Communications

  • Drive strategy and messaging for internal communications.
  • Work with director of corporate communications to ensure internal messaging and deployment timing is in sync with external messaging.
  • Assist with external messaging creation and deployment, as needed.

2. Employee Events, Internal Awards and Employee Recognition Programs

  • Organize and manage programs and related content, including speaker messaging, event logistics, webinars, etc.

3. Digital

  • Manage and maintain company’s internal communications channels.
  • Assist in supporting AOS social channels and AOSmith.com.
  • Manage external digital partners and content providers.

4. Corporate Communications Intern Program

  • Maintain responsibility for the Corporate Communications Intern Program, including the selection of interns, their day-to-day workload and the overall quality of their output.

5. Other responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations or other related field
  • 5+years communications experience. Experience in the manufacturing sector is a plus
  • Experience utilizing, managing and optimizing digital communications tools, including - but not limited to - intranet, survey tools, etc.
  • Proficient with Word, PowerPoint, and graphics software such as Photoshop and PowerPoint
  • Some travel is required

Additional Qualifications/Skills:

  • Possess excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Demonstrate knowledge of internal and change communication best practices
  • Able to manage a large number of projects and prioritize demands
  • Able to work effectively with all levels of the organization from shop floor to executive and across all business units
  • Must be self-motivated results-oriented
  • Video production knowledge / experience is a plus
