As the Internal Communications Manager, you’ll lead a team of smart, savvy communications professionals to create and share compelling messaging that helps our global teams connect with our business, culture and strategy. This is a flat and lean team. As such, we’re looking for someone whom can lead at a strategic level while working alongside the team. Responsibilities:

  • Lead, inspire, support and further develop a team of smart, hard-working communication professionals. 
  • Develop short and long-term communications strategy aligned with business objectives and change initiatives to increase employee engagement and overall company performance. 
  • Drive operational excellence by developing communication processes and managing the team to the seamless, efficient execution of these processes. 
  • Bring innovative ideas to create or enhance internal communication channels and processes that take the team to the next level. 
  • Create and execute memorable, engaging cross-channel change and communications plans that drive awareness of key initiatives and inspire employees to take action. 
  • Channels include email, video, social, infographic, presentations, blog, intranet, team/leadership meetings, etc. 
  • Advise and provide communications support to senior leaders. 
  • Develop and implement internal messaging best practices that enable timely cross-team communication and effective cascading of critical information. 
  • Review communications to ensure a consistent, high-quality product that follows the C.H. Robinson writing and brand style guide. 
  • Measure and report on the effectiveness of internal communications, seek input and adjust approach as necessary. 
  • Support large-scale internal events such as global leadership meetings or other live events. 
  • Lead the communication and expression of the Employee Value Proposition. 
  • Manage internal crisis or time-sensitive communications with tact, confidence and a sense of urgency. 
  • Partner and ensure alignment with external communications colleagues. 
  • Manage relationships with internal and external partners (HR, Marketing, Legal, IT, Project Management, translation and design services, etc.).

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, English or a related field. 
  • Seven or more years of professional experience in an internal communications position ideally within a global, decentralized organization. 
  • Direct or indirect leadership of a team while being invested in their success, inviting different perspectives, and inspiring, coaching and supporting those around you to perform to their highest potential.

  • Organized. You sweat the details and plan for contingencies. You’re methodical and rigorous, yet flexible, able to think on your feet and adjust for the unexpected. 
  • Consultant. You are highly regarded as a trusted advisor, influencer and partner who develops collaborative strategic relationships, at all levels, throughout the organization. 
  • Writer. You are a hands-on communicator that can write effectively, accurately and with speed. You have strong copywriting and sharp, error-free editing skills. 
  • Creative. You build an environment that fosters creative thought and action. You love to experiment, solicit feedback, and learn from each iteration. You are aware of the latest trends and are always thinking about ways to innovate. 
  • Savvy. You have an outstanding ability to manage relationships and balance customer, project, organization, and team needs to ensure mutually beneficial outcomes. 
  • Visual communicator. You have a keen eye for good design and layout, and possesses design skill in the production of visuals, including slides, posters, video and digital media. 
  • Skilled. You are proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, have experience with SharePoint and can perform basic tasks in Adobe Creative Suite or similar programs. 
  • Agile. You thrive in a fast paced, rapidly changing, results-oriented environment. You’re used to iterating, are flexible in your approach to work and able to meet tight deadlines with grace, resiliency and humor.
