The Editorial Team Leader Responsibilities:

  • Edits and manages the production of a bi-monthly magazine with a national circulation, including writing some of the 76 pages of editorial content. 
  • Works closely with the Communications Director to conceptualize and develop overall messaging around healthy lifestyle issues. This includes collaborating with two direct reports and influencing 4 indirect reports who contribute to the magazine. 
  • Stays abreast of trends in health and wellness to inform team decisions. 
  • Collaborates with Editorial Board to create annual editorial calendar, integrating content with organization’s mission and themes. 
  • Creates an environment where other team members are encouraged to explore and exchange ideas that help the organization and those it serves. 
  • Works closely with assistant editor and lead designer of the magazine to ensure consistent tone, messaging and branding. 
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to adapt print content for digital use and vice versa. 
  • Reviews pages with Communications Director to ensure themes and stories continue to support organizational objectives and are communicated in a way that is meaningful and actionable for the people the organization serves.

  • 3-5 years’ experience writing and editing promotional and editorial copy
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications or related field (or equivalent work experience)
  • Basic understanding of layout and design principles and terminology 
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office
  • Familiarity with Mac
  • Familiarity with AP Style 
  • Management experience 

Working hours are 8 to 4:30 with some flexibility!!
