The Marketing Manager is responsible for developing, implementing and executing a strategic marketing plan for the agency. Through collaboration with agency leadership the Marketing Manager will position agency departments to attract potential customers and retain existing ones with effective marketing tactics. The Marketing Manager reports to the Chief Operation Officer (COO) and is an instrumental member of the agency’s marketing, sales and support team so that the agency is the first choice to provide solutions to systems.

Department Management Responsibilities:

  • Develop a brand strategy. 
  • Lead the development of an agency marketing plan from start to finish, leveraging internal support and driving collaboration. 
  • Establish short and long range marketing goals, define key performance indicators (KPIs), and select strategies for the agency. 
  • Engage in continuous improvement to study effectiveness and impact of marketing strategies and tactics and act to achieve desired results. 
  • Understand the agency’s product and service offerings and approach of key competitors; communicate products and services differentiation to the sales team and provide input to leadership. 
  • Assist with the product and service development process by ensuring that ideas at conception are in alignment with market needs; strategically guide new product and service roadmaps. 
  • Analyze customer insights, consumer trends, and marketing best practices to build successful strategies to increase customer conversions, and generate more qualified leads. 
  • Create, maintain, and conduct analytics reporting across multiple platforms and extract key insights for future campaign development and go-to-market strategies, complete with formal proposals and recommendations on tactics. 
  • Present deliverables to internal teams on a continual basis, and communicate with chief officers about marketing programs and strategies.

Direct Product/Service Responsibilities:

  • Develop buyer personas, identify target audiences, and establish positioning. 
  • Write compelling copy for different collateral types and audiences that attracts target personas and converts leads to customers. 
  • Manage projects, including: meeting deadlines, time management, contingency planning, approval channels and procedures, budgeting, campaign analysis, and tracking / monitoring procedures. 
  • Conduct market research and analysis, and establish data management and tracking systems to improve the agency’s marketing efforts. 
  • Conceptualize and execute on multi-channel campaigns. 
  • Guide creative direction to meet objectives for all advertising and public-­facing communications, including print, digital, and video assets.
  • Create and manage a calendar of events such as webinars, conferences and thought leadership contributions. 
  • Provide tools and materials to enable the sales team to function effectively. 
  • Manage and refine the agency’s digital presence including web and social media. 
  • Protect the integrity of the CESA 6 brand and all uses; communicate branding guidelines to staff and partners.

Budgetary Responsibilities:

  • Develop, collaborate and proactively monitor the agency marketing budget with the finance department and make adjustments as necessary.
  • Ensure utilization of agency protocol for the management of the service/product agreement and invoicing process. 
  • Responsible for the management of expenditure approvals for marketing related functions in accordance to and alignment with the fiscal policies of the agency.

Personnel Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate, manage, lead and develop a diverse work team. 
  • Conduct and/or support the coaching and evaluation of the marketing department team members, through the one-on-one process and agency evaluation process.
  • Define discrete roles and responsibilities for the marketing department team members and delegate work. 
  • Build and progress monitor the annual individual expected outcomes for marketing department members. 
  • Collaborate with HR in the recruitment, selection, assignment, contracts and evaluation of department personnel.

Other Functions:

  • Serve on CESA 6 strategy teams as assigned. 
  • Attend appropriate conferences, workshops and in-services. Other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications:

Experience, Education and/or Licensure:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, or related field. 
  • Proven experience developing marketing plans and campaigns. 
  • Proficiency with online marketing and social media strategy. 
  • Demonstrated experience in supporting the product development process. 
  • Strong project management, multitasking, and decision-making skills. 
  • Metrics-driven marketing mind with eye for creativity. 
  • Experience with marketing automation and CRM tools. 
  • Prior experience working within the education sector is desired.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to create social media content and post across multiple platforms. 
  • Advanced skills on the effective utilization of digital email marketing campaign software. 
  • Ability to utilize the Adobe Creative Cloud platform. 
  • Professionally represent the agency and public, private and parochial school districts in interactions with staff, customers and community. 
  • Ability to utilize the agency’s CRM to facilitate marketing campaigns. 
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google platform applications along with the ability to learn agency specific applications to support business operations. 
  • Work as a team and collaborate effectively with agency leadership. 
  • Ability to set and meet high standards of customer service (internal and external). 
  • Engage with customers in a positive manner that represents, self, team and Agency. 
  • Process-oriented. 
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaborate with diverse work teams.
