This position serves as a liaison between the Wisconsin School of Business Integrated Marketing Communications team and the clients who manage various educational programs and academic units. Those clients look to this individual as their in-house marketing strategist to develop actionable promotional strategies and tactics to boost enrollment, grow philanthropic support, burnish the school¿s academic reputation, build awareness and sustain growth.

Principal duties:

30% Internal Client Relations:

  • Manages a portfolio of internal clients, comprised of WSB departments and educational programs 
  • Develops and nurtures key external and internal relationships, developing and maintaining a thorough knowledge of each client's business goals, key audiences, competitive landscape, and other factors 
  • Creates, writes and presents thorough marketing plans, including creative briefs and tactical plans 
  • Communicates client perspective to writers, designers, and other team colleagues 
  • Participates in the presentation and positioning of marketing solutions 
  • Evaluates the input and ideas of creative, media, and strategic planning relative to strategy and client needs 

50% Project Management:

  • Manages the entire production process for marketing collateral and other deliverables, defining goals, leading the production of marketing deliverables, managing project budgets, conveying client feedback, and obtaining approvals at specific milestones 
  • Monitors progress against goals and communicates effectively to all stakeholders 
  • Identifies obstacles and suggests new solutions

20% Marketing Consultancy:

  • Review and analyze performance of paid media and digital strategies to optimize and advise on opportunities for enrollment marketing 
  • Provide strategic guidance to client and IMC team, giving recommendations about marketing strategies and plans 
  • Continuously monitor the marketplace and provide updates and recommendations to the client, school and IMC team 
  • Assist in the development of innovative, strategic marketing and communications plans, including strategic analysis, competitive review, positioning, brand relevance and accuracy, messaging, tactics and budgeting 
  • Research external and internal factors to determine opportunities for marketing all School constituents 
  • Assist in branding, positioning, and marketing implementation

Degree and area of specialization:

BA/BS required; preferably in marketing, journalism, communications or related discipline

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

Minimum of 1 year of experience in an advertising or marketing agency or similar setting that involved working with diverse clients to conceptualize, plan, produce, and implement marketing campaigns. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential, as it is a strong commitment to diversity and inclusivity.

Well qualified candidates will have:

  • strong marketing acumen with working knowledge of on-trend digital marketing strategies and tactics 
  • proven ability to work effectively with clients to analyze needs, set goals, measure progress, and achieve positive results 
  • independent, reliable, self-directed work style and solid personal organization and project management skills 
  • high level of proficiency with leading office software including Microsoft Office, content management systems, project management systems, 
  • ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high energy work environment managing tight deadlines with a commitment to topnotch quality, measurable results 

Additionally, the following skills and experiences may be considered:

  • hands-on experience with CRM/LRM systems in a marketing environment 
  • experience in a higher-education setting 
  • direct experience with advertising buying and ad optimization 
  • experience with web analytics platforms like Google Analytics
