The Position:

The multimedia communications specialist drives SWIB’s digital activities, primarily social media, podcasts and video. Creative, innovative, and technically skilled, the multimedia communication specialist must be knowledgeable about the fast-changing media landscape and comfortable using a variety of communication channels to get our message to staff and external audiences. This position is a critical member of the communications team, collaborating on the creation and production of creative content including internal newsletters, intranet, videos, podcasts, and social media activities.

Essential activities:

  • Leading the creation of original videos, podcasts, and other multimedia work 
  • Recommending ways to improve communications strategy and develop content 
  • Providing recommendations at both the strategic and tactical levels 
  • Analyzing outcomes to improve SWIB’s communication strategy 
  • Researching and creating written and visual content on topics that impact, as well as inform 
  • Taking initiative, developing a creative opinion, and defending that opinion in line with SWIB’s objectives and expected outcomes 
  • Building strong relationships with staff and leadership to generate compelling stories

The ideal candidate:

  • Degree in journalism, marketing, strategic communications, public relations, or another communications-related field; Bachelor’s degree preferred. 
  • Two to five years’ experience in a communications-related field with demonstrated success in writing, video, and podcasts preferred. 
  • Be able to conceive, research, and create content across multimedia platforms in a way that enhances storytelling and engages audiences. 
  • Be knowledgeable of and proficient in a variety of media – written, video, podcasts - and eager to adopt emerging communication channels. 
  • Be passionate about continued learning on emerging creative platforms and technologies and ways to implement those at SWIB. 
  • Possess a proven ability to write quickly and accurately. 
  • Have strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of management. 
  • Have strong organizational and time management skills, be able to work independently, and manage multiple projects and competing priorities with demanding deadlines. 
  • Display sound judgment, initiative, and critical thinking.

Desired skills, knowledge, and abilities:

  • Experience in video production and editing 
  • Knowledge of basic social media platforms, tools, and tactics 
  • Experience in writing or developing detail oriented content 
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite
