Position Details

Product & Channel Marketing Manager
Twin Cities Metro

Major Function:

Lead the Toro SWS rental business and small construction product development. Develop and implement long range and annual plans and strategies that will continue the long term growth of business. Lead the development of the evolving channel strategy to reflect the growing scope of the SWS rental business.

Scope includes product development, communications, training, promotion, pricing and driving profitable growth. Additionally, the position will outline possible acquisition strategies. The candidate will serve as a key member on cross-functional team(s) with Sales, Operations, Engineering and Finance to achieve category financial, marketing and growth objectives.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsibility for leading the rental business and managing the associated P&L. 
  • Serve as the marketing lead for various small construction products including, electrically powered, cement and masonry, compaction, turf renovation, small tree-care, and material handling product lines. Manage continued VOC research activities. 
  • Provide thorough analysis of market, customer, and competitive data to support long range and annual plan development. 
  • Develop and supervise an associate marketing manager and interns. 
  • Work closely with the Marketing Communications Specialist and the outside ad agency to develop and execute communications strategies and tactics. 
  • Manage division involvement The American Rental Association and Toro’s participation in the Rental Show. 
  • Work with international marketing to incorporate international requirements into product designs. 
  • Manage direct and indirect marketing budgets and sales allowance. 
  • Develop and lead execution of integrated demand generation programs aimed at key customer segments. Lead the continued development of CRM tool. 
  • Develop and implement pricing strategies on an annual basis to achieve business financial goals. 
  • Develop rental marketing programs. Track market reaction, acceptance, and effectiveness of marketing programs, policies and recommends timely additions or changes. 
  • Collaborate with Sales, Service and Engineering Teams to investigate and resolve field and warranty issues. 
  • Assist in coordinating and attending major events including training events, trade shows and industry meetings. 
  • Provide timely input for operations planning through demand forecasting, focusing on product mix necessary to achieve plan goals. 
  • Develop relationships and business with the national rental accounts. 
  • Collaborate with other Toro divisions to enable sales of non-SWS products to rental customers. 
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related discipline and 4+ years marketing experience (or MBA with 2+ years marketing experience) 
  • Experience to include new product development in durable, service oriented goods.
  • Solid experience with product development or project management and business to business marketing desirable. 
  • Strong analytical skills necessary. 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills critical given requirement of frequent interaction with sales, rental store owners and managers, agencies, engineering, operations, and customer care.
