Project Manager
Southwest Wisconsin
Madison, WI

Nelson Schmidt has an opening for a project manager. Ideally this person would work from our Madison office, but we will accept those who can work from our Miwlaukee location.

We are seeking a person that is a self-starter who can be responsible for exceptional execution of projects ranging over multiple accounts. The project manager will oversee projects – from concept development to execution. The person we need will pay strict attention to the timelines they build, the estimates they develop and the daily interactions they have with team members to ensure that our clients receive the best work on time and on budget. The person we are looking for is someone who is passionate about technology but doesn’t let the tools dictate how a project will be done.

  • Creation of comprehensive timelines and estimates for all types of projects.
  • Daily supervision and monitoring of workflow and managing timelines and status updates.
  • Partner with appropriate agency counterparts to manage resources and schedule timely delivery of work.
  • Participate in continuous process improvement.
  • Daily use of project/asset management software such as Advantage, Slack and other various PM tools.
  • Creation of documentation that facilitates information flow related to projects.
  • Monitor and reconcile hours estimated against hours consumed to ensure accuracy.
  • Conduct weekly project status meetings with Creative, Production, Media, Public Relations and Account Service to discuss work and manage expectations.
  • Work with account and functional leads to develop and manage scopes of work and timelines from small one-off projects to large-scale projects and campaigns.
  • Create and manage a project plan with long- and short-term timelines, with an understanding of resources and tasks.
  • Develop accurate and thorough project plans, schedules, RFPs, SOWs and documentation.
  • Clearly communicate timelines, budgets, deliverables, goals and expectations with internal and external partners and clients.

  • 5+ years minimum of project management experience demonstrating successful execution of projects from kick-off to completion (agency experience preferred).
  • Comprehensive understanding of process (e.g., design and development of a project lifecycle).
  • Ability to multitask and work cross-functionally with creative, strategy, accounts, production, business affairs and finance.
  • Effective working both independently and as a team member; demonstrates autonomous skills while working toward goals shared by the team.
  • Is a natural leader and problem solver, who takes pride in their contributions; communication requires a level of control and ownership.
  • Demonstrates competency for multi-tasking without losing sight of priorities and goals.
  • Confidently develops timelines, estimates and project status reports to optimize productivity.
  • Possesses effective communication and collaboration skills with internal teams and clients.
  • Is both persuasive and flexible and is able to work in a high-expectation/fast-paced environment.
  • Must have strong skills implementing and enforcing internal process and procedures.
  • Understands the disciplines within a full-service agency including account management services, public relations, production, media, creative and digital.
  • Is equally comfortable scoping and estimating digital and traditional projects.
  • Understands the importance of balancing client needs and expectations with the agency and produce superior work.

  • Formal college education from a technical school or university is desirable but proven experience trumps education

Excellent salary and benefits including health, dental, life, and disability insurance, 401K plans, and paid vacation including Christmas to New Year’s off.
