We are now hiring for a full-time Public Relations & Digital Communications Coordinator to join ou rHeadquarters (HQ) Team!

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Media Relations/Communications -

  • Develop story pitches, press releases, fact sheets, bios and other communications materials
  • Maintain MFS expert source roster for media interviews
  • Serve as a lead agency media contact (with the Senior Director of Marketing and Communications)
  • Directly engage with agency staff, leadership and clients to gather and develop stories that demonstrate the impact of Metropolitan’s work and engagement with human services issues
  • Conduct interviews with clients, donors, volunteers, etc. to use for various communications (social media, ecommunications, fundraising, etc.)
  • Post media coverage links to Metropolitan’s website and provide media coverage links for leveraging on agency social media and in eCommunications, to help promote the agency’s brand awareness and impact
  • Develop monthly media coverage reports aligned with the Communications’ team Communications plan
  • Develop a yearly editorial calendar for placements, working with the Senior Director of Marketing and Communications

Photography/Video -

  • Provide basic photography/video footage (from interviews, agency events, etc.) for online and print communications needs as applicable; also develop related stories for Metropolitan online, social and print media

Communications/General -

  • Work with the Senior Director of Marketing and Communications to develop a comprehensive agency-wide media relations plan and calendar, with measurement metrics
  • Partner with the Communications team to brainstorm and develop general communications, marketing and fundraising communications ideas
  • Provide proofreading/editing support for communications materials

Relationships:

  • Reports to the Senior Director of Marketing and Communications
  • Works closely with the Communications Team and the broader External Affairs Team
  • Establishes and maintains strong relationships with media and agency subject experts
  • BA in Journalism, digital communications or related field required 
  • Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in cultivating media relationships and securing media coverage required
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills 
  • Basic knowledge of Content Management Systems (i.e., WordPress) and email services a plus 
  • Basic photography/video experience 
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus 
  • Proficiency in AP style preferred 
  • Accuracy, attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines essential 
  • Must be focused and self-motivated, yet flexible and a team player 
  • Must have access to own transportation for off-site projects/events 
  • Ability to work special events (including some evenings and weekends) as well as handle unexpected deadlines and emergency communications required

SALARY:

  • Compensation is commensurate with years of related experience, position requirements, and candidate qualifications. The average salary for the position is $57,500.
