Position Summary:

The Public Relations Specialist will be responsible for serving as a strategic business partner to Life Time executives, business and program leaders across Life Time markets in the US and Canada. Some of their responsibilities include the development and execution of public and media relations strategies and plans and tactics in support of Life Time destinations, businesses, products, services, and events.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establishes and builds relationships with key media and influencers that results in earned media coverage that reinforces Life Time’s mission, resort-like destinations, healthy living, healthy aging, healthy entertainment programming and services, and member and team member success stories reflecting positive life change and inspiration 
  • Prepares and maintains media lists, and monitors, prepares and distributes media results on a daily and ad hoc basis 
  • Collaborates with the Corporate Communications team to facilitate and manage media relations initiatives, including determining media targets, executing plans and pitches, fielding incoming media inquiries and coordinating and conducting interviews 
  • Drafts compelling media pitches, press releases and press kit materials 
  • Assists in the execution of media tours and events 
  • Evaluates and improves media relations program effectiveness and efficiency

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism or Public Relations 
  • 3 to 5 years of proven public relations experience 
  • 1 year in client management experience 
  • Proven success in generating national, regional and local coverage across a range of media for consumer services and offerings 
  • Excellent public speaking skills and demonstrated ability to handle and manage interviews both on camera and over phone/email 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe suite programs, as well as media database and reporting tools such as Cision, Critical Mention and TrendKite

Preferred Requirements:

  • Agency experience 
  • Experience with nationwide retail and consumer / lifestyle media
