The Senior Director Marketing Americas (AMS) plans, directs and controls all product management and marketing strategy and activities for AMS (direct and distributor markets), including leading the development of 1 to 3 year marketing strategies and plans for products and services, implementation of regional events, development of the product management and marketing budgets, and leading or supporting customer loyalty initiatives. Establishes marketing goals to drive growth, ensure share of market and profitability of products and services. Evaluates the timely adjustment of marketing strategy and plans to meet changing market and competitive conditions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establishes customer loyalty initiatives and marketing plans to achieve sales and profitability objectives and advance the business strategy and competitive differentiation in AMS markets. 
  • Develops and implements marketing strategies, plans and programs to grow product portfolio (products and services) market share in targeted customer segments and priority geographies. 
  • Develops and executes on multiyear growth strategies for all of the Region’s customer and product segments. 
  • Identifies and leads the execution of new marketing initiatives to strengthen and grow the business, with focus on Installed Base customer loyalty initiatives. 
  • Partners with Global Marketing to ensure regional voice of customer is incorporated to help guide product development. 
  • Partners with Global Marketing to ensure value proposition and messaging is consistent globally. 
  • Accountable for breakthrough innovations in process, products, solutions, programs, and/or new markets to advance the business objectives. 
  • Ensures market trends are known, and future and emerging markets are identified. 
  • Ensures competitive positioning and differentiation is defined and communicated, and competitive trends are monitored on an ongoing basis. 
  • Leads, or may strongly influence, cross-functional teams within Accuray to achieve business initiatives and/or improve processes. Is recognized as a resource for innovation or groundbreaking developments. 
  • Directs and develops the AMS marketing function and helps to raise the caliber and credibility of marketing in the company. 
  • Directs the implementation of regional events, including congresses, user meetings, and symposia.
  • Creates segment specific marketing plans. Responsible for the development of the entire portfolio of marketing deliverables including business case, marketing plan, positioning, pricing, channel analysis, life cycle plan for products and services (including product rationalization). 
  • Analyzes competitors to understand and predict competitive strategies and develop counter strategies to maintain and increase market share. 
  • Conducts and communicates comprehensive win/loss analyses and develops marketing programs to effectively drive wins for the region. 
  • Directs all new product launches in the region including market research, positioning, marketing and training; works with the sales organization to execute successful launch programs to customers. 
  • Utilizes market knowledge, including information derived from customers, to collaborate and define product requirements on a continuing basis and provide new product and service ideas. 
  • Assumes leadership role for all internal and customer product positioning and differentiation efforts. 
  • Ensures superior product quality of the highest level is maintained for the product and services portfolio. 
  • Mentors and develops direct reports and other team members, as appropriate. 
  • Adheres to and strictly follows policies and procedures

Required:

  • BS/BA or equivalent education required. 
  • 10+ year’s marketing, sales or sales management required. 
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and be able to develop positive business relationships with all functional areas within Accuray as well as the medical community and Accuray customers. 
  • Must understand the necessity and value of teamwork; ability to work effectively as part of a team. 
  • Customer-focused; must have knowledge of the values and practices that align customer needs and satisfaction as primary considerations in all business decisions and ability to leverage that information in creating customized customer solutions. 
  • Decision making and critical thinking skills required. Must have an understanding of the issues related to the decision-making process; ability to analyze situations fully and accurately, and reach productive decisions 
  • Knowledge, insight, and understanding of business concepts, tools, and processes that are needed for making sound decisions in the context of the company's business required; ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations. 
  • Ability to develop forecast and pricing models, analyze impact of changes to key variables and effectively communicate implications to other stakeholders. 
  • Strong results orientation and ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation. 
  • Ability to encourage, motivate and guide individuals or teams in learning and improving effectiveness. 
  • Experience managing large teams in a multi-faceted, global company 
  • Proven leadership skills surrounding change management and organization development 
  • Strong discipline in financial management and budgets, highly effective critical decision-making skills both on people and in the business, and a thought leader on change and continuous improvement 
  • Ability to effectively communicate deadlines, updates, issues and accomplishments, concisely, clearly and in ways that motivate others and build team spirit 
  • Results-focused with a track record of consistent achievement

Preferred or Desired:

  • MBA/Master degree strongly preferred. 
  • Healthcare and/or medical device industry. 
  • Experience with Voice of the Customer qualitative and quantitative market research techniques.
