JOB PURPOSE AND IMPACT:

The Corporate Communications Senior Manager will partner with the Director of Corporate Communications to execute coordinated internal and external communications strategies for key company priorities to shape partner perceptions.

In this position, you will contribute to strategy, build content and partner with cross-functional colleagues in a global, matrixed organization.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Craft communications strategies and campaigns to effectively advocate for Cargill’s positions on key policy topics and other issues, aligned to the company’s business priorities. 
  • Develop strategic internal and external communications plans to address complex topics/issues.
  • Provide communications counsel to key partners. 
  • Partner with communications colleagues and serve as a key member and project manager for issues response teams across businesses, functional areas and geographies. 
  • Use internal and external strategies to reach various audiences. 
  • Build compelling content across a variety of media. 
  • You will work under minimal supervision and independently handle complex issues while referring only the most complex issues to higher-level staff. 
  • Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills 
  • Minimum of four years of experience in a communications or corporate affairs role

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 8 years of experience in a communications or corporate affairs role 
  • Communications experience with public-policy issues, preferably in food and agriculture. 
  • Knowledge of, and experience with, government at the state, federal, and/or international level.
  • Demonstrates strong judgment/decision-making skills and political acumen. 
  • Strong business knowledge with a proven ability to use communications to drive business strategy 
  • Ability to activate cross functional teams to on critical issues 
  • Ability to translate complicated messaging into easily understood language 
  • Ability to provide strategic counsel to midlevel and senior leaders 
  • Proficiency with AP style 
  • Experience working in a global company
