We are hiring a talented Sr. Marketing Communications Specialist to help support the planning, implementation, execution, and evaluation of marketing communications programs and product launches for Cardiac Rhythm and Heart Failure healthcare professionals and patients around the world. Use your project management skills to develop campaigns that include all elements of the marketing communications mix (i.e., product messaging and concepts, print and electronic promotions, journal and on-line advertising, conventions related tactics, patient education materials, and digital media content delivered via mobile apps, websites, social media channels, video, animations, and email, etc.)

A Day in the Life:

Communications Planning: Utilize expertise in strategic marketing communications planning process. Work with cross-functional teams to develop integrated communications plans for CRHF products and indications. The plans will articulate the communications objectives, strategies, tactics, budget, and resources needed to support the marketing objectives as set forth in marketing plans. Percent of time: 15%

Project Management: Manage the implementation and completion of communications tactics, as outlined in the integrated communications plan. Balance multiple projects. Collaborate with and provide direction to internal and external resources to execute tactics. Manage the internal Legal, Regulatory, and Marketing review process for assigned projects. Proactively and regularly report project status to your manager, team members and marketing partners. Measure the effectiveness of tactics. Percent of time: 30%

Writing, Editing, Creative Collaboration: Understand and apply the elements of writing excellence. Write materials that translate features into benefits and/or translate complex concepts into understandable language across various traditional and digital communications channels, utilizing Medtronic Corporate Verbal Brand Standards. Conduct appropriate research to test message and/or communications content. Collaborate with and provide direction to internal and external design and creative resources to develop visual concepts. Percent of time: 20%

Relationship Management: Maintain strong, productive working relationships with Marketing and Communications department personnel. Develop and maintain an understanding of what communications channels are most effective for all external customers. Percent of time: 15%

Digital Communications: Learn and utilize key digital communications software and tools (i.e., Adobe Experience Manager software for website development and Eloqua software for email campaigns.) Leverage measurement tools, analytics, and dashboards to assess and present the effectiveness and results of digital communications tactics. Percent of time: 15%

Budget Management: Manage resources efficiently and effectively (project dollars and people). Track actual spending to estimates, and report status of programs/projects. Percent of time: 5%

Must Have:

  • You will need a Bachelor's degree and 4+ years’ experience working in marketing communications role in a corporate or agency environment (2 years with Masters) 
  • Writing and/or editing experience 
  • Experience managing multiple tasks and projects 
  • Experience with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, and Outlook

Nice to Have:

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Journalism, Marketing Communications, Marketing or Advertising 
  • Experience in Marketing or Communications in medical device or pharmaceutical industry or knowledge of those industries’ key audiences 
  • Proven ability to understand global marketing communications principles and cultural issues
  • Understanding and experience in marketing to physicians and consumers 
  • Understanding of how Medtronic products work and how they are used in the clinical setting
