The Division of Facilities Planning & Management (FP&M) is hiring a Strategic Communications and Marketing Director to lead the development of a comprehensive communications and marketing strategy for the division’s internal and external audiences.

FP&M is seeking candidates who possess a well-rounded background in written, visual, and digital communications along with team development. The position will work closely with the FP&M leadership team to amplify strategic priorities while creating the team’s functional expectations across the division. The ideal candidate will create marketing and communications materials to increase broad awareness, support relationship management efforts, and build a favorable brand reputation.

The Strategic Communications & Marketing Director will be tasked with leading and directing the FP&M communications and marketing function to drive the development of written and visual communications strategies in alignment with FP&M's mission, vision, and strategic priorities.

Reporting to the FP&M Deputy Associate Vice Chancellor, this appointment will be responsible for managing and driving the development and evolution of FP&M's communications and marketing capabilities for a variety of key internal and external audiences, including UW faculty, staff, students, and FP&M employees.

  • Develops, implements, and manages the execution of a comprehensive strategic marketing and communications plan for internal and external audiences to maximize engagement and advance organizational priorities. 
  • Develop and execute on a road map for enhanced communications channels including timelines, websites, email, social media, print materials and supporting visual libraries. Plan, implement, and evaluate business plans and marketing strategies with FP&M functional units that drive quality inquiries and deliver best-in-class customer experiences. 
  • Collaborate with FP&M divisional leaders and colleagues to create and maintain a favorable brand identify and awareness among internal and external stakeholders, ensuring consistent image and messaging across multiple channels, including print and digital platforms.
  • Oversee multiple projects simultaneously from the concept stage and kickoff through review, approval, and completion within established deadlines. 
  • Evaluate, analyze and refine plans and processes using data and metrics to achieve continuous improvement. Ensure effective messaging and positioning across the online portfolio by consistently communicating the value proposition across marketing channels. Supervise marketing and communications team members. 

Other Duties:

  • Participate in division-wide committees and project teams, as needed. 
  • Collaborate with campus partners on campus-level marketing and communications initiatives.

Minimum of ten years of experience in professional communications or marketing role, with an emphasis on strategic marketing and communications, reputation management, and content development across multiple platforms.

Experience leading a marketing and communications team in a high paced, multi-discipline environment.
