As a visual storyteller, the Video Production Specialist plays a critical role in all marketing, public relations, social media, design and other creative efforts. This entry-level position collaborates closely with the MCTS Marketing Team to create multimedia content, plan video shoots, record and edit video and sound projects, to advance public transit and the MCTS brand.

  • Produce engaging content in all social media formats (video, still image, reels, and GIFs) suited to all major social networks and YouTube. 
  • Produce stories for the MCTS Excellence program, which is focused on an innovative video series that uses bus surveillance footage to proactively tell stories about MCTS employees who go above and beyond. Source story ideas, conduct interviews with employees, write scripts/captions and edit videos as needed. 
  • Attend MCTS press conferences and events and produce summary videos including presentations by elected officials, interviews with MCTS employees, B-roll of events and upload to Media Center on mcts.org. 
  • Produce internal stories for MCTS TV, an internal platform that displays videos, informational slides, and other content on TV screens at all work locations for over 1,000 employees to see. 
  • Partner with MCTS Marketing Team to contribute ideas for content calendars, write and produce material, work with IT to keep TV software up to date. 
  • Collaborate with MCTS Marketing Team, 3rd party ad agency, social media and graphic design team to generate videos and other content in support of MCTS marketing initiatives such as: Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), Rosa Parks Day commemoration, “Free Rides” programs on New Year’s Eve and St. Patrick’s Day. 
  • Assist with streaming of events, both live and recorded. 
  • Serve all MCTS departments to produce video content as needed, such as training, security, and transportation teams. 
  • Organize and maintain video files, manage video library. Review archives footage to support story angles. Catalog new footage for future use. 
  • Review and adapt to analytics on video performance. 
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • Associate degree in video production or journalism. Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of educational requirement. 
  • 1+ year of experience in broadcasting, film, advertising, news production (or relevant classroom or internship experience). 
  • Portfolio of video production and streaming work samples. 
  • News production experience preferred.  

Knowledge, Skills and Abilites:

  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Products such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Premier Pro and After Effects with the ability to create content for marketing and communications purposes.
  • Familiarity with professional cameras (GoPro Hero 6, Canon EOS Rebel T5i EF-S 18-55 IS STM, Sony Alpha a7 III Digital Camera with 28-70 lens and accessory bundle), preproduction/planning, studio and field production, scriptwriting, storyboarding and photography. Post-production entails digital video editing, still and motion graphics design, and video compression for multiple delivery platforms. 
  • Ability to stream on multiple platforms. 
  • Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and work with minimal direction and maximum initiative.  

Physical Requirements and Environmental Factors:

  • Ability to effectively provide oral and written communications requiring good verbal expression, satisfactory hearing and eyesight clarity sufficient to read. 
  • Ability to attend in-person events in the community. 
  • Ability to work on-site (a hybrid work schedule is available but not exclusively). Work is frequently conducted in an office and sometimes in a community environment or at other facility sites relatively free from unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards. 
  • Physical requirements are those described as moderately physical work, which includes exerting twenty pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently and/or constantly having to lift, push, pull or otherwise move objects including the human body. Set up camera equipment and lighting.
