The Joint Commission evaluates and accredits more than 20,000 health care organizations and programs in the United States. An independent, not-for-profit organization, The Joint Commission is the nation’s predominant standards-setting and accrediting body in health care. Since 1951, The Joint Commission has maintained state-of-the-art standards that focus on improving the quality and safety of care provided by health care organizations. The Joint Commission’s comprehensive process evaluates an organization’s compliance with these standards and other accreditation or certification requirements. Joint Commission accreditation and certification is recognized nationwide as a symbol of quality that reflects an organization’s commitment to meeting certain performance standards. To earn and maintain The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval™, an organization must undergo an on-site survey by a Joint Commission survey team at least every three years. (Laboratories must be surveyed every two years.)

Overview:

The Digital Communications Intern will participate in the crucial role in maintaining the quality and consistency of our digital content. The role’s main responsibility will revolve around editing and enhancing content for our website and email marketing communications.

Will require working on the Oakbrook Terrace office on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Responsibilities:

  • Website Content: Ensure that website content is accurate, well-organized, and aligned with our brand voice. Participate in loading content to a new website platform as a part of the team’s effort to modernize the enterprise websites. 
  • Broadcast Emails: Assist in creating and editing email templates for our email marketing campaigns. 
  • Process Improvement: Document processes and share any opportunities to improve processes with team members. 
  • Observation and Learning: Observe senior team members and actively seek opportunities to learn and improve. These insights will be presented and shared during a divsional meeting.
  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field from an accredited college/university. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. 
  • Ability to learn new technology platform and systems; experience with Content Management Systems is a plus. 
  • Ability to participate within a multi-disciplinary team as well as acting autonomously when appropriate. 
  • Attention to detail and openness to constructive feedback. 
  • Ambition to pursue a career in digital communications and/or marketing.
