Supports and works in partnership with others on Baird’s Public Relations and Communications teams to plan, develop and implement public relations and other communications efforts to effectively convey Baird’s brand and key messages internally and externally. PR and Communications teams develop and execute communications strategies in collaboration with Baird’s business and other leaders, associates in Marketing & Communications and throughout the firm, as well with outside PR partners.

As a PR Coordinator, you may:

  • Support efforts to identify, recommend, develop and implement public relations and communications plans, projects and activities to support the business’ goals, overall business development and brand building efforts. Includes thought leadership, issues/change management media relations, awards and recognitions, market expansions, new offices, talent acquisitions, transactions, etc. 
  • Assist in the coordination of PR efforts by Baird’s outside PR partners. 
  • Schedule, prepare materials for and assist with media training as appropriate. Help identify and pitch relevant story opportunities to media. Coordination may include topical research, identifying media outlets, determining spokesperson availability, etc. 
  • Serve as a “starting point” contact for the media, assessing media inquiries, recommending action and coordinating details. 
  • Assist with video production for media outreach and other business development efforts. 
  • As appropriate, helps train interns/temporary associatesin Corporate Communications 
  • Partner with the Corporate Communications Operations team to track media outcomes and compile related reports. Leverage key media coverage with internal and external audiences, including coordinating web and social media updates. 
  • Support Corporate Communications Operations Team efforts to maintain news subscriptions and partnerships with vendors such as Cision, Critical Mention, PRNewswire/BusinessWire. 
  • Help educate Baird associates on the role of the Public Relations Team and how we can help achieve their goals. 
  • As appropriate, helps coordinate internal communications

What we look for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications or Marketing preferred 
  • Two or more years of Public Relations experience, including internships; financial services experience is a plus 
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize daily workflow to meet deadlines 
  • Must be a strategic thinker and a quick study 
  • Ability to be a strong team player in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Strong PC skills with good working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint); experience with media tracking tools such as Cision a plus 
  • Excellent customer service skills; must interact effectively with all levels and areas within Baird 
  • Must have strong writing, editing, communication, organizational and consensus-building skills 
  • Experience in social media, video project management and other disciplines of marketing and communications a plus.
