Punch PR is looking for a PR-savvy intern to join our team for the summer, with the potential to extend into the fall. The qualified candidate will have strong writing and research capabilities and applicable knowledge of media outlets, popular social platforms, and industry trends. If you're the right internship candidate, you're a go-getter, a problem solver, a team player, and a great writer.

You’re looking to add more tools to your professional toolbelt and explore the multifaceted world of public relations. We’re looking for a great writer and effective communicator who is passionate about connecting the right people to the right story.

Punch interns are critical to our team dynamic and clients’ success; the term “busy work” doesn’t exist as far as we’re concerned. As a PR Intern, you'll support the team on various accounts and projects by providing tactical support to help generate press coverage and increase our clients’ brand awareness. You’ll get exposure to a wide variety of consumer and B2B clients, becoming an expert in many industries and processes. Regular assignments will include pitching reporters, tracking media activity, conducting industry research projects, assisting events, and creating compelling written content for various audiences.

Daily activities will include:

  • Media Outreach: Write and distribute creative pitches to reporters; assist with drafting and pitching media alerts/press releases 
  • Media Research: Conduct various media and influencer identification research projects 
  • Media Tracking: Monitor incoming media placements using CISION, Google News, etc; develop news summaries and recap reports based on findings 
  • Client Management: Develop interview briefs, award briefs, publicity materials, and media kits to prepare clients for media opportunities 
  • Event Planning: Assist with production/execution of client events 
  • Other PR and office activities as assigned

We're open to a wide range of communications-based experiences, but here are some qualifying guidelines:

  • Recent graduate or current college student with a focus in communications or other related field (public relations, advertising, journalism, etc). Previous internship or relevant work experience is required. 
  • In-office availability through at least September 23, 2024. 
  • Ability to work 40 hours per week throughout the summer; for college students, hours will reduce to 15-20 hours per week once the school year begins. 
  • You have very strong written and verbal communication skills with an ability to adjust tone based on audience. 
  • You are comfortable contributing new ideas and following through on them with the support of your team members. 
  • You have an action-oriented default setting and are comfortable operating in a fast-paced agency environment. 
  • You can navigate a fluid, autonomous professional environment due to your excellent organizational and time management skills.

We offer a collaborative work environment, great hourly rate, and hybrid work schedule with remote Tuesdays. A laptop will be provided to assist with work completion along with a $50 monthly technology allowance.
