Account Coordinator

Role:

Account coordinators at Carmichael Lynch Relate are flexible and curious individuals who support the public relations team daily. This role is full of learning opportunities. You will have the chance to learn about our clients’ products, services and methods of operation to gain a working knowledge of the industry category, trends and issues and contribute to public relations plans. You will have the opportunity to develop and understand the earned media landscape and craft creative pitches to capture the attention of writers, editors and producers. You will work with a variety of team members and acquire new skills for working productively within a team, supporting client relationships, discovering and mastering new public relations tools, and taking on new challenges.

Job Activities and Focus Areas:

• Conduct research to help support PR program planning and ongoing execution
• Participate in client/team status meetings, maintain regular client/team status reports, provide detailed and factually accurate notes and prepare conference reports
• Develop and maintain up-to-date media lists for the agency; work with your teams to develop media pitches for writers, producers and editors; pitch media, as directed, working with your teams to secure earned media coverage in support of clients’ media relations goals
• Accurately maintain media tracking and measurement documents in real time so PR teams have current and relevant numbers to report back to clients
• Assist with the research, development, execution and measurement of influencer programs
• Develop news releases, media alerts, media Q&As, and other documents in support of a client’s business
• Proactively assist your teams in scheduling meetings, meeting agenda prep, meeting next steps and follow up
• Maintain offline filing system and/or online client information hub to ensure organized, up-to-date documentation of client materials for team
• Proactively communicate with team regularly to share work updates and progress of assigned tasks

Attributes and Skills Important to Your Success as an Account Coordinator:

• Understand PR – A basic understanding of the public relations discipline, in particular media relations, is essential in this role.
• Be an Excellent Writer – Writing is one of the most important skills of a PR professional. Understanding AP Style and being able to craft clear and compelling materials is essential to this role.

Qualifications:

• Education: A bachelor’s degree in public relations, journalism or a closely related field.
• Skills and experience: A minimum of 1 year of public relations or relevant professional work or internship experience in one of the following areas is preferred: prior agency, communications or media; solid writing skills; deadline-motivated and detail-oriented.
