Position Details

Account Director, Sports & Event Marketing
Southeast Wisconsin
Deerfield, IL or Milwaukee, WI

This position can either be located in our Chicago (Deerfield, IL) or Milwaukee (Third Ward) office.

Account Director – Sports & Event Marketing is responsible for all aspects of planning, communicating, and executing assigned clients’ sports marketing programs and special events. This position requires a high degree of leadership, organization, attention to detail, excellent communication, fiscal responsibility, and the ability to transfer the client’s brand and business strategies into effective sports and event marketing programming.

Primary responsibilities include relationship and program management between TSMGI’s clients and their official sponsored properties, as well as activation and execution of specified marketing programs. This position reports to the Vice President and General Manager.

Salary is commensurate with experience. Only candidates with 10+ years of sports marketing experience will be considered. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Performs the day-to-day activities for leading the TSMGI account team to ensure the client's sponsorship objectives are achieved while delivering the highest level of client service and satisfaction.
  • Understands the client's business, and their sponsorship objectives, in order to develop strategies for the most effective utilization of the sponsored properties
  • Develops clear communications materials (presentations, POVs, concepts, analysis, proposals, etc.)
  • Engages with all levels of the client's organization to educate stakeholders on the rights and benefits of the sponsored properties and inspires them to effectively utilize assets to achieve their specific business objectives.
  • Identifies, connects and drives B2B opportunities through potential and sponsored properties
  • Liaise and build relationships with the sponsored properties to ensure positive and proactive communication.
  • Leads, coaches, educates, challenges and inspires the TSMGI account team deliver their best every day.
  • Ensures the TSMGI account team is informed and well prepared for all meetings, programs and events.
  • Creates a work environment that is positive, proactive, stimulating and satisfying for all stakeholders.
  • Frequent travel between Chicago and Milwaukee office locations, as well as domestic travel to support the client with their sponsored properties.

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelors’ degree in a relevant discipline
  • 10+ years of experience in sports and event marketing (previous agency or client-side experience is highly valued)
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral, written, and presentations
  • Solid interpersonal skills, including timely, quality decision making
  • Able to work independently as well as collaboratively
  • Demonstrated drive for results
  • Accomplished process management skills
  • Effective delegation and team development skills
