At FCBX Chicago, the Account Director is the agency’s commissioner to the client. We want a person who understands the client’s needs beyond marketing and looks deeper at their partnership with the agency. This person takes a leadership role in strategy development and ensures that the strategy maps back to the client’s goals. The Account Director is a proactive and effective partner with all cross-functional team members. We want someone with the ability to champion ideas, inspire great work and effectively defend and persuade the agency POV to the client. Someone who knows a good idea when they see it.

the position:

  • Understanding client objectives, strategies and key initiatives to recommend how partnership can be used to help clients achieve their goals 
  • Negotiating sports, entertainment, and event partnerships and remaining actively involved to ensure client satisfaction 
  • Managing budget expectations throughout negotiations 
  • Facilitating legal review and commentary 
  • Overseeing sponsorship activation and ensuring all contractual assets are delivered upon Communicating account status to the internal account team as well as other relevant teams 
  • Supporting account teams with ideation and developing new program concepts 
  • Supporting account teams with property discussions as needed during course of contract 
  • Ensuring all contracts are executed as negotiated 
  • Facilitating and acquiring necessary documentation for wrap up reporting 
  • Performing annual sponsorship assessments and contractual analysis; providing recommendations on performance enhancements, make-good needs and identify incremental opportunities 
  • Generating periodic marketplace updates (e.g. newsletters, best practices, etc.)


  • 6+ years of experience in marketing or advertising 
  • Has experience managing and mentoring junior level talent 
  • Has the ability to provide big picture strategic thinking, vision and insights to drive big ideas and initiatives 
  • Possess collaborative leadership skills that encourage team cooperation and motivate relationship-building 
  • Is enthusiastic about business and passionate about marketing 
  • Is self-confident in oral, written, strategic and analytical abilities 
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or relevant experience required 
  • FCB has adopted a hybrid working environment. It is required for employees to be in office Tuesday-Thursday and can work from home Monday and Friday
