Account Executives at Padilla are responsible for defining, organizing and executing work, delegating assignments to other staff members, writing and editing copy, managing digital and social content, reporting and documenting results, establishing and monitoring client budgets, maintaining quality work standards, and establishing good working relationships with clients, the media and vendors. In addition, AEs begins to implement fully “managing up,” or making sure their supervisors are doing their part to support job performance and meeting of commitments.

Account Executive - B2B

  • An Account Executive (AE) should understand the basic fundamentals of marketing communications and public relations. This is an extremely important position, providing a great deal of experience that grooms and prepares individuals for a successful career.
  • An AE actively participates in generating new business for the agency. This primarily involves research, writing and presenting proposals, but may also include prospecting and lead generation.
  • An AE demonstrates a willingness to handle work that falls outside of the official job description, when necessary, including aspects of other positions or temporary assignments involving other accounts.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

  • Working with leading business-to-business clients representing hardware, software and IT services to support paid, earned, owned and shared/social communications program development and execution.
  • This particular role will also spend 25% of time supporting a unique Minneapolis cross-agency program that will support efforts to improve diversity and inclusion within agencies; this role includes being Padilla’s liaison to a group of local agencies working collectively to evolve diversity and inclusion among companies.
  • Demonstrating sufficient knowledge of marketing and communications and public relations for highly technical business-to-business clients, including the components of a plan and the differences between goals, objectives, strategies and tactics.
  • Demonstrating the ability to write effectively across formats, including web and digital content, social media postings, press releases, pitch letters, client memos, and other materials with editing by supervisors.
  • Demonstrating an understanding of the creative and social process and how to effectively work with creative and social leads as a representative of the client team.
  • Budgeting projects and timelines accurately and manage the project within the budget and deadlines.
  • Assisting in developing presentations, delivering pitches and participation outreach.
  • Establishing and building strong relationships with key media who are important to clients.
  • Meeting all deadlines and keep supervisors informed of progress on projects.
  • Analyzing a client’s situation and develop sound recommendations.
  • Delegating assignments and bring in senior people where appropriate.
  • Implementing major company initiatives, including media interviews/tours, brochures/newsletters, surveys, special events, social and digital media initiatives, etc.
  • Understanding digital and social media and how to effectively use it to achieve client objectives.
  • Demonstrating a good understanding of how technical trade media works and how to successfully pitch stories that might feature or include technology clients.
  • Creating high quality media lists.
  • Joining a marketing/communications professional organization and/or a client industry trade organization and attend functions staged by these groups for the purpose of professional skills/knowledge development, agency promotion and new business prospecting for Padilla.
  • Managing one or more employees at the Intern or assistant account executive levels, delegating assignments and being responsive to issues/concerns/workload of employees supervised.
  • Manage-up: Making sure your supervisors are doing their part so that your needs are being met and you are being supported in delivering upon your obligations to clients, colleagues, the media, business partners, etc.
  • Managing and directing outside vendors.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry experience.
  • Experience in business-to-business brands, past experience supporting technology, software, IT services or other technical/engineering clients.
  • Three or more years of professional experience in an agency or corporate setting.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Demonstrated desire for continuous learning.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time and occasionally operate office equipment.
  • Ability to travel as needed (when safe).
