Account Manager Reports to President

Regular work hours are Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. This position is an in-office role and is eligible to work from home up to one day per week. Approval of a work-from-home day and schedule is at the discretion of the supervisor to ensure that the needs of the organization and clients are met. Attendance at occasional evening events is required. Weekends are generally not required. Semi-regular travel to and from client locations is expected. This position is generally not expected to travel beyond a day’s drive.

Generally a sedentary position working in a professional office environment. Lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling no more than 10 lbs. Will need to move within and outside of the office.

The Account Manager is a full-time, exempt position within our strategic marketing and communications consultancy. This role serves as an account and project manager for assigned clients in collaboration with senior consultants, providing exceptional marketing, communications, and fund development planning and execution. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in marketing communications, fund development, project management, and relationship building, with experience cultivating community partnerships.

This position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail, and knowledge of marketing, fundraising, and donor engagement principles. The successful candidate will use these skills to develop and implement innovative, purpose-driven solutions that deliver meaningful results for our clients and company. This role also contributes to business development and ensures O’Connor Connective remains an active, engaged partner in the Northeast Wisconsin community. The Account Manager works closely with team members to ensure projects are completed on time and on budget.

Account Management – 75% - Collaborate with senior consultants to manage project details, deliverables, and client requests. Support daily client communication to build strong relationships and ensure successful outcomes. Organize and participate in client meetings, planning sessions, and retreats. Use project management systems to track projects from start to finish. Ensure creative deliverables—copy, design, photography, videography—are on brand and aligned with client messaging. Work with the President and Production Manager to prioritize work, allocate resources, assign tasks, monitor progress, and ensure seamless execution. Develop project estimates in partnership with senior consultants and the Production Director and present them to clients.

Marketing Communication Strategy and Implementation – 25% - Support marketing, fund development, and campaign strategies to drive client goals. Partner with senior consultants to develop campaign plans and identify key performance indicators (KPIs). Help manage campaigns and contribute to creative planning and execution. Conduct audits in marketing, communications, and fund development. Assist with market research projects, including feasibility studies, focus groups, surveys, and analysis. Measure and report on campaign effectiveness using relevant metrics and data sources, and recommend improvements. Research client-related issues, trends, and industry developments. Edit and proofread client materials. Contribute to O’Connor Connective’s collaborative culture and support the team as needed based on skills and capacity.

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business administration, advertising, public relations or journalism. If a graduate from another discipline, experience in marketing or agency client/project management.
  • 7-9 years of formal marketing, communications, advertising or public relations experience, preferably in an agency setting. 5 years of project management experience serving multiple clients.
  • Exceptional planning, project management and coordination skills.
  • Ability to multitask, meet specific deadlines and prioritize tasks and assignments. High level of attention to detail.
  • Exceptional verbal communication skills, including abilities in presentation, facilitation and front-facing client communication.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a variety of diverse personalities.
  • Strong ability to think creatively, problem solve, set priorities and work diplomatically under pressure.
  • Professional presence and capacity to represent O’Connor Connective directly with clients, partners and community.
  • Experience in communicating to various audiences, industries and organizational structures. Exceptional written communication skills, including the ability to write clearly and succinctly for various mediums. Fluency in AP style desired.
  • Experience with or understanding of marketing theory/strategy.
  • Broadbased understanding of communication mediums including print, email and digital marketing.
  • Experience with developing marketing budgets and managing costs.
  • Knowledge of industry trends, market research and measurement techniques.
  • Ability to demonstrate return on investment (ROI) to the client through metrics and reporting.
  • Knowledge of web-based project management and tracking systems.
  • Knowledge of design production software and communications processes.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office365/Teams and ability to learn upgrades and new programs as needed.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and decisions in an expeditious manner.
