Account Supervisor - Remote
Job
Full-time
12/3/2020
Southeast Wisconsin
Milwaukee, WI

The purpose of the Account Supervisor is to maintain long-term and profitable customer relationships while developing, executing, and supervising clients' marketing and communications plans. Within the company, the Account Supervisor reports to the Director, Client Services, manages the work of the company’s associates, and works with specialists, such as PR advisors, digital strategists, and creative advisors to develop integrated communications strategies for their clients. This role is important because the Account Supervisor provides their clients with research-informed counsel, overarching strategy, and integrated plans that the team will execute. The Account Supervisor will be challenged by working directly with the C-Suite, boards of directors and non-marketing/communications-savvy executives to counsel them and provide solutions focused on outcomes rather than outputs.

Accountabilities:

Before applying, make sure this is the right seat for you on our client’s team. The Account Supervisor is accountable for:

  • Account strategy- Write and present detailed, well-researched integrated marketing plans to agency teams and clients. Perform research and analysis and link branding, PR, communications, and marketing to broader business objectives. Stay abreast of the communications, marketing, and PR industries as well as clients’ industries in order to recommend approaches that solve business problems and achieve measurable results.
  • Scope execution- Oversee the implementation of approved plans and strategies - working with PR advisors to execute PR plans; with your associate to implement research and communications plans; and with creative, media and digital advisors to develop brand, marketing, and creative strategies.
  • Budget management- Review estimates, quotes, and invoices to ensure budget requirements are met and profitability maintained. Inform the VP of client service regularly of account progress for all assigned clients, involving them immediately in event of budget overruns, etc.
  • Project resource management- Ensure client needs are properly and efficiently staffed. If outside resources are required to complete a project, work to gain estimates, provide strategic direction, and oversee the work of outside consultants, such as freelance designers/writers, research specialists, web designers, community relations experts, etc. - ensuring their work is provided on time, on the scope and on budget.
  • Client relationship management- Contact and form relationships with senior client personnel, with a focus on providing superior and proactive customer service. Ensure client relations are positive and stable; and that the VP of client service is immediately informed of any potential problems with client/agency relations.
  • Project estimating- Gather information from the team and industry resources in order to put together detailed estimates for projects and overarching annual marketing budgets for clients. Recommend budgets and budget allocations to clients based on information gathered to aid in your client’s annual marketing communications budgeting process.
  • Account projections- Provide the VP of client service with monthly financial and time projections for your clients, which will aid in staff and bandwidth planning.
  • Media planning/buying- Learn to use in-house media planning services through VICI media for small, digital media buys. For large media buys, work with a freelance media buyer, providing them with strategic direction. Review and present media plans to clients, using talking points supplied by VICI or a freelance media buyer.

Before applying, make sure you’ll fit in well with the company’s culture. You should be:

  • A Critical Thinker. You are not afraid of asking tough or seemingly obvious questions. You seek deep understanding of a problem, even if the answer leads you down a different path than the one you started down.
  • Venturesome. You are not afraid to try new things. Your desire to do things differently is never for its own sake. It comes from a passion for continuous improvement.
  • Intentional. You do not shoot from the hip. You think before you act and execute on carefully crafted plans, specifically designed to generate results.
  • Perceptive. You do not claim to be an expert. Rather, you place deep trust in research and the insights and answers it can provide. You read between the lines, hearing what’s missed and “reading the room” in order to know what role you need to play.
  • Invested. A drive for excellence and improvement is in your DNA. You pitch in when needed and you do not let your teammates fail. Success for one is success for all.

Required experience and core competencies for this position include:

  • A proven ability to manage large accounts, as well as teams, for multiple clients at once
  • Experience consulting directly with the C-suite, recommending PR and marketing strategies that address their reputation and brand challenges
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills and demonstrated ability to delegate tactical assignments and accurately judge and edit work of others
  • Able to produce examples of strategic, integrated marketing & PR plans and/or findings reports with strategic recommendations made to your clients
  • Passion for social and narrative change campaigns, corporate communications and the integration of brand research and digital marketing into communications and PR work
