Position Overview:

The Advertising Specialist plans, coordinates, implements, measures and reports on the paid media and sponsorship components of marketing plans for the university and its academic partners. The individual is responsible for defining project scope, creating advertising briefs and plans, establishing schedules and deadlines, communicating with designers, writers, other project stakeholders, communication with vendors, and tracking and reporting results.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. 1. Lead university advertising planning, purchasing, trafficking and measurement in support of objectives such as increased enrollment, awareness building, alumni engagement and program revenue. Additionally responsible for working with colleges and departments to ensure consistency and quality in messages and placements. This includes traditional and digital advertising.
  2. Coordinate and implement advertising projects from concept through completion for television, out-of-home, radio, print and digital media buys. Set deadlines, follow detailed project plans, work closely with creative leads and others within OMC, monitor and summarize progress of projects.
  3. Build ad campaigns in Google AdWords, Facebook/Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn and other social media advertising platforms, including writing copy for optimal performance and brand alignment.
  4. Review and analyze measurement/analytics and conversion points for advertising to inform media planning and optimize media buys in real time based on performance against stated objectives.
  5. Compile campaign summaries with findings and/or recommendations on performance. Create materials to present reports and maintain marketing dashboards as needed.
  6. Coordination of university sponsorships, including negotiation and fulfillment of contracts and added value, as well as collaboration with department and academic partners toward sponsorship strategy.
  7. Manage, nurture and establish positive working relationships with a large number of university partners.
  8. Nurture and establish positive working relationships with media and sponsorship vendors.
  9. Negotiate with media vendors for best rates, added value and placement on behalf of university and academic partners.
  10. Planning and decision-making responsibility for budget for OMC and on behalf of all university partners.
  11. Investigate and recommend new advertising or sponsorship opportunities and methods to further objectives of university.
  12. Quality assurance.
  13. Perform other duties and responsibilities as required, assigned or requested.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  1. Requires a bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing or a related field.
  2. A minimum of 2 years professional experience in media buying or experience in a marketing environment
  3. Requires working knowledge of advertising strategy and techniques, media buying and measurement. Understands best media for different goals – awareness building, lead generation, etc.
  4. Experience in a marketing environment with exposure to all facets of advertising strategy and planning.
  5. Ability to identify objectives and to plan, budget and execute advertising projects in support of stated objectives.
  6. Demonstrated experience writing copy for search advertising.
  7. Familiarity with Customer Relationship Management systems and demonstrates ability to understand how CRM connects to advertising strategy, particularly as it relates to performance and analytics.
  8. Knowledge of print and digital advertising channels
  9. Proactively seeks opportunities to learn new advertising tools and technology
  10. Excellent project management, organizational and time management skills required.
  11. Counsel and lead as needed, assess requests and make recommendations on strategy and implementation
  12. Exceptional interpersonal ability and written and verbal communication skills required.
  13. Familiarity with Marquette University
