Position Overview:

As Analyst, Public Affairs – Transmission you will be responsible for supporting public affairs activities related to Invenergy’s growing portfolio of transmission projects that are dedicated to delivering renewable energy to market. The Analyst position is an opportunity for individuals to build valuable early-career skillsets and gain experience in public, community, and government relations; stakeholder engagement; information systems management; contracts and accounting; and advocacy communications. This individual will play an integral role in advancing projects that are critical to addressing climate change and represent multi-billion-dollar clean energy infrastructure investments that support jobs and local investment in communities across the United States.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of various project communication collateral materials, including fact sheets, presentations and talking points. 
  • Manage information systems – including project dashboards, stakeholder engagement databases, and document management systems – for multiple large transmission project teams, including Invenergy employees and external consultants. 
  • Support the development of project communications and events plans for media announcements, local community events, and other public relations needs. 
  • Manage community relations programs, including nonprofit grants programs and other charitable giving and local community relations activities including sponsorships and members. 
  • Manage public affairs consultant budgets and contracts, working with Invenergy’s Legal and Accounting departments on contract and budget reviews and approvals; submit and manage purchase orders and expense reports using Invenergy’s accounting system (Oracle). 
  • Lead the implementation and use of Invenergy’s stakeholder data management system, including gaining “superuser” familiarity with system, managing system access, training new users, and working with software vendor to develop new features based on Invenergy’s needs. 
  • Read and summarize transmission industry related news, becoming familiar with public policy and communications issues that impact the development of critical clean energy transmission projects. 
  • Be attentive and adaptable in day-to-day work and task completion to the policy, political, communications, and local community dynamics that affect project success.

Qualifications:

  • Experience as part of a communications team, PR firm, political campaign, advocacy organization, or other professional environment that deals with communications and public issues. 
  • Demonstrates strong writing and critical thinking skills; attention to detail; and a sense for prioritization in managing multiple projects and deadlines. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including willingness to take initiative and ability to interact with executives, elected officials, community leaders, and other internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Brings interest in information and systems management, including use of databases and data management, and in how effective information management can impact positive outcomes in both individual and team performance. 
  • Is motivated by mission of advancing critical, high-profile clean energy projects. 
  • High-level of personal integrity and professionalism. Discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality when working with sensitive company, financial, and personal information.

Required Education and Experience:

  • BA or BS, communications, business, economics, political science, or other related area of study 
  • 2 – 4 years of relevant full-time experience 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and other communications tools (including Microsoft Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint; various social media platforms; etc.) 
  • Writng samples will be requested of all candidates who interview for the role 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A basic knowledge and interest in energy, communications, and media
