The Wisconsin Union is a financially self-supporting division of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Financial support for the organization is provided by income earned by dining units and a variety of non-food units such as recreation, guest rooms and space rentals. Substantial support is also provided by student fees. The Wisconsin Union has an annual operating budget of $56 million and employs nearly 250 full-time staff and 1500 student staff in the departments of Program & Leadership, Hospitality Services, Facilities, Administration and the Office of the Director. In addition, over 300 student volunteers and 2,000 club members under the Wisconsin Union Directorate (WUD) produce over 2,000 programs annually.

Develops, directs implementation, and monitors the annual giving campaign and corresponding events, leveraging and updating research-based methodology to increase donor contributions. Plans and direct staff; and serves as a subject matter expert to campus and unit leadership on annual giving strategies and best practices.

  • Plans and directs staff implementation of the annual giving campaign and corresponding special events.
  • Identifies opportunities for new programs and events to increase donor contributions, and serves as a subject matter on annual giving strategies.
  • Evaluates existing donor strategy and makes recommendations to unit leadership for program enhancement
  • Assists with implementing the unit personnel resource allocation plan including hiring, training, supervision, and resolution of non-routine personnel issues to ensure that work culture is customer service-oriented, productive, valuing of diversity, and fosters employee engagement and development
  • Develops and schedules operational work plans for unit programs and events in support of strategic plan
  • Directs Student Affairs giving website, eloqua and digital giving strategy; writes, edits and publishes content for campaigns, projects and initiatives.

This position will work primarily with the Health and Wellbeing theme area which includes the following campus partners: University Recreation & Wellbeing, Mental Health Services, Medical Services, and Prevention & Campus Health Initiatives.

  • Minimum two years professional work experience in annual giving fundraising, member/donorcommunications, relationship development, and event planning.
  • Superior communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, and organization skills.
  • Demonstrated initiative and leadership.
  • A high attention to detail and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with and knowledge of best practices for digital communications.
  • Solid understanding of and/or experience executing integrated marketing campaigns.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects, tasks, and deadlines.
  • Desire to learn, grow, and create a culture of health and wellbeing at a Big Ten institution
  • Minimum $53,700 ANNUAL (12 months) Depending on Qualifications.
