UWM’s division of University Relations & Communications’ Web & Mobile Services works with faculty, staff and students to develop websites and web applications for UWM Campus entities and outside sanctioned clients. Reporting to the Web & Mobile Services Supervisor, this position is responsible for needs assessments and requirements gathering, development of websites and mobile applications. Two positions will be filled from this recruitment. Duties include working directly with clients to elicit requirements, translate them into actionable proposals, articulating cost and time estimates for producing solutions using campus technology services, and perform design and technical work required to implement solutions. This position operates under GENERAL supervision.

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 2 years professional experience in web application development.
  • A minimum of 2 years demonstrated experience with HTML/XHTML/ HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery code development and code library use.
  • A minimum of 2 years professional experience in PHP or similar programming language.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with WordPress or similar content management systems.
  • Knowledge of the Appcelerator mobile development or similar platform.
  • Knowledge of MySQL database administration procedures and performance considerations.
  • Knowledge of the security risks to Web applications, databases and servers, and familiarity with best practices such as the Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP).
  • Knowledge of source version control systems such as Git and change deployment tools and processes.
  • Knowledge of the Linux operating system, including Bash or similar shell programs.
  • Knowledge of relational database design and Object Oriented design principles and patterns.Ability to produce compositions, icons and other visual assets.
  • Knowledge of Web Services technologies (XML, REST, WSDL, SOAP, etc.).
  • Knowledge of Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) and Single Sign-On (SSO) concepts and technologies.
  • Knowledge of Web browser & mobile platforms, including responsive web design principles.

$48,333 minimum-$72,000 maximum with a generous benefits package.
