The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee is seeking to fill a full-time vacancy for an Assignment Editor/Photographer.

UW-Milwaukee’s University Relations & Communications division is hiring an assignment editor/photographer. Strong candidates will have advanced project management and organizational skills. The assignment editor/photographer will play a key role in UWM marketing campaign organization as well as serve as lead worker on the Photo Services team to oversee assignments, scheduling and manage UWM’s photo database and catalog. Additionally, the assignment editor/photographer will shoot and edit photographs during busy periods of the year, including adding metadata; gather caption information and write captions; develop photo concepts for print, digital and social channels; research subjects; and create photo slideshows, banners and other materials for the www.uwm.edu domain that appeal to prospective students, parents and other influencers.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to produce photographs that support a client’s brand image;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Photoshop;
  • Demonstrated success as a project manager and/or assignment editor

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in art, photography, communications, marketing or a related area;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Adobe Lightroom and/or Adobe Bridge;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Digital Asset Management software;
  • Demonstrated ability to write photo captions that meet the standards outlined in the AP Stylebook;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of WordPress or similar content management system;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of types of images that work well on social media, websites and print platforms;
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with people at all levels of a complex organization;
  • Demonstrated artistic excellence in shooting/producing images
