Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) invites applications for a full-time Assistant Director of Annual Giving to join of Development and Alumni Affairs department. Under the direction of the Director of Annual Giving, the Assistant Director will engage in donor activity that leads to Annual Fund and other annual donations to the university. He/she will work to increase annual giving to MSOE through phonathon campaigns and other programs.

Essential Job Functions

Annual Giving Programming – 55%

  • Assist the Director of Annual Giving with campaign implementation and special fundraising events for various constituent groups including alumni, parents, friends, faculty, staff, and student to meet annual unrestricted and restricted gift goals.
  • Assist in the development and coordination of direct mail and Giving Day campaigns
  • Generate reports when appropriate to measure the effectiveness of strategies
  • Assist the Director of Annual Giving with programming including student philanthropy, young alumni communications, the Parent & Family Fund and others as assigned.
  • Assist the Director of Annual Giving in developing and executing a program for qualifying, soliciting and stewarding leadership annual giving donors 

Phonathon Program Management – 30%

  • Manage student phonathon program including recruitment, hiring, and training of students, executing strategy, reporting results, and personally staffing the phonathon as needed
  • Write scripts that effectively connect with MSOE alumni and secure gifts
  • Coordinate with Advancement Services team for tracking solicitation progress, gift processing, pledge reminders and reporting for Annual Fund solicitations

 Gift Portfolio Management – 10%

  • Develop a cultivation and solicitation strategy for a small portfolio of prospects for leadership gifts and will enter call reports for each completed action in a timely manner
  • May be responsible for the timely completion for gift agreements, letter-of-intent and in-kind gift forms to document to document donor commitments 

Participate as a Member of the Office of Development and Alumni Affairs - 5%

  • Attend all department meetings as required.
  • He/she will provide staff support for events and activities related to the Office of Development and Alumni Affairs and will perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Strong customer service and organization skills
  • The ability to present information effectively in both in written and verbal forms
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word
  • Experience in database systems preferred, but not required
  • Requires willingness and ability to work evening hours for events and the twice yearly phonathon (approximately 30 evenings in the course of the year)
